I wanna give this 5 stars and I wanna give it 1. that explains my 3 right off the bat. I made a pour with my first shot of a 200ml. It smelt like alcohol, tasted not much better than alcoholic molasses. Fast forward to tonight. I poured a shot. Drank a Moscow mule, let it air out. this is the Evan Williams of spiced rum. out the bottle it's kid shit. let it air out it smells like butterscotch and becomes a scotch. Take that how you will. this is a good sipper for the price if you got time to let it simmer in between shots, otherwise... all burn and no class.

I wanna get a pint of this for further exploration. The shot I had went too quick to divulge ratings and opinions, but right off the top I found this to be complex for a cognac. In the realm of what Laphroaig is to scotch. There's a lot going on. Will update rating and review with further upcoming sips.

Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 17, 2017 (edited December 18, 2017)first shot sipped impressions: scent kinda boring, taste too subtle... not bad, but not as good as average either... taste is a little better than the nose but not by much. will elaborate more on next dram... -
Casa Noble Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed November 29, 2017what a nose. smells so good. thick vanilla to the tune of a high end bourbonish buttery smell. cuddling in the vanilla blanket there's agave. the taste is super smooth with a smack of pepper at the end. each sip doesn't really get any more complex, but decent simple aromatic sipper. -
Don Julio Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed November 27, 2017 (edited August 22, 2018)on the nose? vinegar. subtle hint of agave. cucumber. if you've ever enjoyed a bowl of cucumber slices soaked in vinegar with a shake of salt... this is that scent. it's there somewhere. not much to say on the taste, but like the Blanco it's smooth, but maybe not as spicy? I don't have a bottle of Blanco to do an a/b comparison but smooth and simple hints of agave going down. I like that scent though. my grandfather would always surprise me with a bowl of cucumbers in a pool of vinegar as a snack. -

Glenfiddich 14 Year Bourbon Barrel Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 12, 2017 (edited September 7, 2019)if you aren't a fan of their 12 yr give this one a try. wow what a fusion of memories and mellowness. there's so much scotch and bourbon marriage going on that I'm just so at ease. I don't know what it is about the scent it's so relaxing. I had a lot of bourbons before ultimately preferring scotch after being introduced to Glenlivet and I dunno, something about this nose brings back every single good vibe I've ever had at whisky tastings or sharing whisky with friends. It's just all at once it's overwhelming. I bought fifth on a whim which is unlike me but I gotta say damn. This is fantastic. If i could sum it up in one sentence: great bourbon nose, great scotch taste.
