Tastes

Deep musty complex aroma. Flavors of toffee, dark wood, caramel and maybe some almond. Super rich and complex, has a ton of burn on it too. Love the dark stormy blend of flavors, the richness helps carry the flavor and the burn, but not quite enough on the latter. The proof hits a little hard, still very well done.

Classic Glenlivet taste but even sweeter than expected. Baking spices and vanilla cream.

Typical bourbon aroma, deep caramel and oak. Looks really rich, lots of legs on the glass. Heavy vanilla flavor, richness is also there as expected. The creaminess and vanilla reminds me of soft serve. There is an oak hit after the initial sweetness but it's light and spicy, the whole vibe reminds me of dessert. A little sweet for me, but great if that's your thing.

Faint aroma, but I can catch some oak. Maybe a hint of green wood too. Flavor is classic Speyside with a bit of spice thrown in. Vanilla cane sugar sweetness, the spices are lighter, like baking spices. Blended well, medium body carrying it all. Well rounded, not super exciting.

Super earthy aroma, damp soil and moss. Smells green and alive. The ardbeg velvety richness hits right from the start, creamy and spreading the flavors all around. Heavy peat and spice, and then in between the initial hit and the tail that damp earthy tone hits for just a bit. The flavors are a journey, sweetness underneath the earth tones. The mix is a little discordant, but I still love it. Powerful, rich, weird. God I love ardbeg.

Smells positively heavenly. Sweet vanilla pudding and grain, rich and beautiful. Flavor doesn't live up to the aroma, but is still good. Cane sugar sweetness, super strong with medium thin body and short tail. As I drink it it improves, a touch more complexity, hint of spice. Well done, but I was admittedly a bit disappointed from how it smelled. If you're the DD want a whiskey just to sit and smell though, this is the one to buy.

Caramel vanilla richness, your standard bourbon hit. Graham cracker and brown sugar, a nice sweet blend of flavors. Good burn to match the medium richness, an solidly above average bourbon.

Heavy sherry aroma. Some cereal perhaps too. Rich hit, vanilla and flaring into a spicy tail. Quite nice, balanced well.

Green aroma, musty and mossy. Heavy bite and alcohol burn, floral and spice. More young wood, cinnamon tail. Interesting blend of flavors, not a fan of the young. Bitter dark chocolate tail, interesting. Points for originality!

Light wood and cereal aroma. I'm getting the same banana notes that Chivas regal mizunara gave me, I wonder if that's just what mizunara wood tastes like to me. Pretty creamy, light flavors but blended nicely. Sugar cane sweetness, pretty heavy vanilla, fairly long tail from the richness. Interesting and well blended, but that banana note will just never be for me.
