Broken Barrel Cask Strength Port Cask Bourbon
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed May 2, 2021 (edited May 7, 2021)Deep complex aroma. Port smell coming through strong. Wood and port hit first, they amplify each other rather well. Huge proof burn hits after, but it works well with the darker flavors. Richness is good, more would have carried it a little further. Still very nice. -
Kirkland 6 Year Blended Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed April 12, 2021 (edited November 25, 2021)Artificial caramel and acetone, just like all other cheap Canadian stuff I've tried. Maybe some rye spice. Truly terrible. -
Sweet woody aroma. Oak is of course going to dominate here but it smells amazing. Flavor is rich and oily, with the oak balanced with a lovely fruit. Maybe cherry or some sort of berry. Much better than I remember, the hefty body balances the bold flavor. Some spice on the tail.Cask & Trotter / Lynnwood
