Nikka Taketsuru 21 Year Pure Malt
Blended Malt — Japan
Reviewed December 6, 2018 (edited April 14, 2021)Rich and heavy from age, and like most Japanese whiskies I taste mostly wood. it's much more mellow than most I've tried, which makes it more enjoyable.Ishibashi -
Wild Turkey Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 30, 2018 (edited March 31, 2021)Very basic bourbon blend. above average and very enjoyable, but nothing really stands out to me. vanilla and wood take the lead. Good if it's available but the 101 is superior.Club Joule -
Auchentoshan 12 Year
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed November 19, 2018 (edited September 21, 2019)Grain forward, but then afterwards the grains step back and let the wood control the tail. Minimal burn, mostly oak, very light and not super rich. Some salt as well. Love the vanilla and wood flavors that it let's take control, very good.COMODO bar with jazz -
Ezra Brooks "Ezra B." 12 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 19, 2018 (edited April 11, 2019)pretty strong and grain forward. little too forceful and not anything beyond the grain for my liking. Water opens it up and cuts a lot of the harshness, makes it much better. Only the age saves it from mediocrity.COMODO bar with jazz -
Suntory The Chita Single Grain
Single Grain — Japan
Reviewed November 10, 2018 (edited November 30, 2018)The harsh flavors I usually apply to Japanese whiskies are a little more muted here, but they might be harder to taste becaues of the black pepper I had is all. Its richer and smoother than I remember, actually rather enjoyable. A bit of burn after it goes down, certainly lighter than most of the things I drink. Mostly barley flavors, maybe some light wood.Fritters
