Tastes

Despite a rich body, the flavors make the whiskey feel light. Sweet fruit, grapes and apple, some vanilla as well. Not what I'm usually after in a highland, but still nicely made. 4

Main sweetness note is apple for me, tart and sweet like a honeycrisp. Spice underneath and on the tail gives it apple cider vibes, but without the bright sparkle. Medium to light body, tail feels almost estringent. Interesting.

Tastes like a cask strength Speyside kinda. Not super sweet but nothing really stands out either.

Tastes like a thousand other ryes to me, not bad but just....rye

Crazy sweet aroma, thick and rich like pudding or frosting. Rich and dessert like on the tongue, vanilla pudding sweetness with a tingling undertone of malt and wood. This honestly reminds me of pudding or cake, which typically aren't my favorite whiskies, but it's admittedly indulgent.

Sweet, pear the major dominant flavor with good rich body. A little light for me but still pleasant flavors.

Smells Graham cracker and honey sweet, without the usual Irish grassiness. Aroma matches the color pretty well. Flavor is the honey and graham cracker with a good dose of vanilla. Im not getting much peat at all from it. Would be excellent with more body.

The port takes center stage both on the nose and tongue, flavor is quite strong. Bitter estringent tannins, a touch of wine sweetness. Usually I love port cask whiskies but the balance here is way off, it's all wine and no whiskey. The result is bitter and overpoweing.

Tastes just like I'd expect japanese whiskey in a peated cask to taste, sweet and pleasant at the start and with a nice peated smoke kick. The tail is quite bad though, peat devolves into something artificial and plastic. Not sure what that is but it isnt great.

Apples, bright Chardonnay flavor with a bit of sparkle. Pretty rich, nice flavors and construction but not my favorite. A bit too light.
