Tastes

Sweet butterscotch/toffee nose with a peaty Smoke back drop. Initial mouthful had a similar taste. Smoke dropped off in later tasted to only a hint. Apple and maybe dried fruit notes were present.

Peppery sugar with baking spices. There is a citrus under-tone that I frequently get with Knob Creek. While this rye is hot it is not over powering. The finish is similar to the body with some woody tannic qualities.

Nutty Carmel nose. Slightly astringent quality but not unpleasant. Oily quality to the legs. Nice mouthfeel not overly oily; hot peppery notes with a brown sugar or Carmel taste a nutty backdrop. Baking spices show thru multiple times.

Wonderful whiskey. Nose was very hot right out of the bottle given time sweet tobacco and oak come thru. Palate has the same qualities with brown sugar and leather notes. The finish is long with the rise and fall of oak and sweetness. A few drops of water bring out more sweetness and some fruitiness.

Weak/thin. Comes on with a nutty taste with a sugary quality. The middle palate is almost absent. The finish is light wood.

Oaky leathery Carmel. Some fruitiness.

Oak honey banana nose. Taste starts with sweet and spicy strength, banana overtones with some baking spice hints. Some oily/chemical taste present but not unpleasant. Long sweet woody finish with hints of banana.

Brown sugar notes on nose. Taste opens with peppery Rye flavors with a floral quality. Medium body; very little burn. Long tannic finish. A little water brings some brown sugar to the palate.

Initially thin and sweet changes quickly to spicy mildly astringent taste with some fruit. Light woody finish.

Fruity vanilla, banana with wood notes. Finish has a sweet peppery quality. Stronger fuller longer finish than Jack.
