More oak char, cedar, vanilla, and baking spice on the palate, plus a touch of hay. Finish is medium-length, with some very mild heat. 2.75/5.00 – Decent (neat) -

On the palate, more vanilla, butterscotch, and walnut, along with pepper, grass, and cinnamon. Finishes long and smooth. 3.50/5.00 – Impressive (neat) -
Jim Beam Pre-Prohibition Style Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 17, 2024 (edited September 6, 2024)Aromas of peanuts, pepper, toasted coconut, dried peaches, and lemongrass. Round mouthfeel. Palate shows more pepper, toasted coconut, peanut, and lemongrass – along with orange zest. Midpalate is quite spicy/hot, but the finish is smoother and is medium-long. 3.25/5.00 – Quite Good (neat) -
Juicy citrus on the nose – grapefruit, lime, and orange – along with juniper, coriander, chamomile and subtle licorice. Very rich mouthfeel. Grapefruit, lime, and orange juices take centre-stage again on the palate, still supported by the coriander, juniper, and chamomile notes. Finish is very long, and sees the citrus juice notes turn pithier, and an undercurrent of angelica root show through. 3.50/5.00 – Impressive (neat)

Olmeca Silver Tequila
Tequila Mixto — Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed May 29, 2024 (edited September 6, 2024)The nose is dominated by artificial sweetness – showing notes of vanilla cake and marzipan – with subtler notes of juniper and pine bark. The same notes, all quite subdued, return on the palate. Very oily mouthfeel. Noticeable ethanol harshness on the attack and mid-palate, which then tapers off on the short finish. 1.75/5.00 – Quite Bad (neat) -
On the nose, lemon peel, rubber, faint campfire ash, honey, and pine needles. Light and rounded mouthfeel. On the palate, more pine, lemon peel, rubber, and subtle ash notes, along with dried peach, and on the finish, some walnut. Finish is quite smooth and fairly long. Lacks the intensity of a single malt – but overall a pleasant dram. 3.25/5.00 – Quite Good (neat)

Palate shows more charred oak, burnt sugar, orange peel, and vanilla – plus some cinnamon on the finish, which is short-medium. 2.75/5.00 – Decent (neat)
