A touch underwhelmed with this to be honest. Drinks more like a Bourbon and not even necessarily a high rye mashbill Bourbon. It's good, but I was expecting more. Also seems a bit too hot for a 105 proof. What's interesting is that a decent amount of water brings out much more spice. But alas, still well short of greatness.

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed August 27, 2020 (edited February 28, 2021)OK, much better than the standard JD. Aroma is sweet with a hint of fruit and caramel.. Then you smell grainy/dusty corn. Flavor reminds me of Old Forrester and the Banana bread with notes of cinnamon that's then topped with a sugary caramel glaze. The good news here is that there is a balance of some nice spice. (therefore not too sweet). Several drops of water elevated the spice. I just realized I might be drinking my first "Dusty". Bottled 12/3/12 -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2019-02 "Shiny Barrel Batch"

Reviewed August 26, 2020 (edited September 4, 2020)Bright copper color. Actually a really nice color. Aroma is of straight oak, maybe a note of cedar. The more I smell it, it's like when you use a chain saw and there is that cut wood with the slightest burned wood Aroma. As it opens a wave of sweetness and vanilla is just below the surface. Flavor, more sweetness than the Aroma hints, and this quickly gives way to warming spice and some menthol notes. Really long finish which is fantastic. Several drops of water bring out milk chocolate and this mixed with the spices makes me think of Mexican Chocolate. -

Reviewed August 23, 2020 (edited September 8, 2020)Coconut, burnt brown sugar, tropical, pineapple Aroma, dark cherry after a couple drops of water. Black Pepper. Fantastic, moment of soapiness (good way) long finish. This was really enjoyable and I'm on the lookout for more. -
Knob Creek 9 Year Small Batch Bourbon

Reviewed August 21, 2020 (edited September 20, 2022)(I'll leave the original review intact, but I've upgraded to a 4.0.. Stuff is very good & KC Store Picks remain the single best value in any store) There are days this is my peanut butter Bourbon and other days more vanilla with a nutty subtext. Interesting how it changes for me. I'm a big fan of the KC15 & KC Barrel Picks. This is essentially what you'd expect. A nice and subtly toned down version of those. When it's peanut butter day I love this. -

Reviewed August 20, 2020 (edited August 31, 2020)Wow, I really like this. The Aroma and flavor have a perfume like floral sense that reminds me a bit of Four Roses. Toasted biscuit notes and a wonderful spicy finish. I'm guessing a decent amount Rye in the mashbill. Finish is long and wonderful and warming. This is right up my alley. Really good stuff -
At a restaurant with the in laws and they had this. Perfect time to try. Reminded me of Early Times in flavor. A toffee, almost burnt caramel flavor was the bulk of the experience. Aroma was fairly light and matched the flavor notes to come. Really a single note front to back without much depth or finish. Moment of sweetness lingers. Wanted to taste it and I did. I'll be sure to leave this to others to mix with Coke. Cheers!
