Tastes

I’m not a fan of the port/sherry cask finishing trend. They taste too much like a Manhattan, which is my least favorite cocktail. That being said, I don’t get much “port” from this port finished bourbon. It’s non-existent in the nose for me. I get a lot of vanilla, creme-brûlée’. Taste has a small hint of wine, but more of the same sweet flavors. Finish is a bit astringent for my taste. So despite not liking port finished bourbons, I don’t really see the point in this one that lacks any port characteristics. Kind of a “why bother” bourbon for me.

Have to be in the right mood, but if I want smokey, there’s no better.

Very sweet. A bit one note with an unrelenting taste of honey.

Honestly doesn’t taste much different to me than the 14 year, but the 14 year is my favorite scotch so that’s not a bad thing.

Hot, but the spiciness is nice with a simple flavor profile. Super value at around $20 per bottle.
