Nose is lightly bready, ripe with dark cherry and greets you with a friendly and familiar whiskey nose. On the palate, things are very much in line with what you might expect from a wheated bourbon. Easy going, medium body, nice penetrating oak character, and a tingle of spice and pepper. A solid expression great for sipping or mixing, especially at a extra strength 105 proof. Rock solid release.

Mozart Dark Chocolate Liqueur
Chocolate Liqueurs — Austria
Reviewed July 2, 2023 (edited July 16, 2023)This dark chocolate liqueur has notes of caramel, sea salt and smoke while maintaining a smooth finish. Without the cream most of the other liqueurs have, this dark chocolate option allows the African flavors of cacao and vanilla to shine. The dark color has a golden finish. The scent brings the smokey quality and dark chocolate bitters to the forefront. Overall this is a great option for those who want a less creamy or sweet liqueur option to sip in a chilled glass. -
Mozart Strawberry White Chocolate Liqueur
Chocolate Liqueurs — Austria
Reviewed July 2, 2023 (edited July 16, 2023)This strawberry white chocolate liqueur has notes of strawberry, vanilla and white chocolate. However, the strawberry scent and flavor is unfortunately very artificial and does not have the expected fresh acidic bite. The light pink color is charming and allows for fun cocktail creations; recipes are available on their main website. The vanilla and white chocolate paired with the strawberry leans towards overly sweet and leaves a creamy film on the mouth. This liqueur may be best mixed or over ice. -
CHINOLA Passion Fruit Liqueur
Fruit Liqueurs — Dominican Republic
Reviewed June 30, 2023 (edited July 16, 2023)Put away any preconceptions you may have about fruit flavored liqueurs. Chinola is amazingly tart, fresh and natural tasting. Usually, liqueurs tend to be cloyingly sweet, and artificial tasting (what manufacturers call "natural flavoring"). Chinola outshines any other passion fruit liqueurs on the market, with a product that truly tastes made in-house. Yet, unlike most syrups, it is shelf stable and does not have to be used within a few weeks. This will be a huge benefit to your bar if you sell Porn Star Martinis. As well, it's a great tool to have on your backbar for tiki style libations like Trader Vic's Grog and Puka Punch. -
Bib & Tucker Double Char Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed June 29, 2023 (edited November 16, 2024)A dark perfume of oak char and roasted corn on the nose. Readily inviting and full of conviviality. The taste is lighter than expected of a double char, but this is of benefit, as it allows the flavor of the mash bill to come through more clearly. A somewhat heavy entry leads to warm and bouncy bourbon flavors enrobed in a blanket of wood. The finish is long and ends with a smooth and satisfying finish. Overall, this is an excellent whiskey and one which you will find yourself making fast friends with. -
Clermont Steep American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 29, 2023 (edited August 1, 2024)A unique nose, bearing notes of red apple, dried apricot, pecan pie, oak and raisin bread. There's a deep fruitiness to the perfume of this whiskey quite unlike any we've experienced. The tasting follows suit, with a light handed touch of barrel, and an almost ethereal body. The flavor is gathered in the center of the palate, with some similarity to a cinnamon apple pie. The overall effect is of a dessert whiskey. Quite drinkable, yet of its own kind. I would prefer this as a mixing spirit in classics like a Manhattan or Old-Fashioned, as opposed to a sipper on its own. -
Hudson Whiskey 5 Year New York Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — New York, USA
Reviewed June 29, 2023 (edited August 2, 2023)A lot of wood on the nose, with the oak giving a fresh-cut oak and medium char aroma. On the palate, things are tight, and solidly in the arena of a classic Straight Bourbon. Some light baking spice, reticent sweetness, medium cask char and a heavier mouthfeel. This almost tastes like a barrel proof expression, and can easily handle a decent splash of branch water or a few rocks. A solid addition to the portfolio. -
The oak comes through with a woody shading cradling the agave, creating a darker sensibility that adds a layer of depth. On the palate, the experience is heightened with a toffee-like character that adds sweetness, warmth and smoothness. The body is terrific, with a full mouthfeel. At the finish, which is fairly long, some dry, woody notes comes out and leave on a slight tannic farewell. This is a great sipper and a perfect tequila to use in more complex cocktails such as a Tequila Sour or Tequila Old-Fashioned, as well as Alex Valencia's El Gavilan.

Fresh, peppery, lightly vanilla perfumed and vegetal forward nose. The agave comes through with flying colors. Very round mouthfeel with slightly creaminess on the tongue. The approach is clean, flavorful and has a white pepper spice on the back of the palate. A medium-long finish, with the vanilla coming out at the very end. A wonderfully evocative blanco that will have you sipping straight from a copita or elevating your platinum Margaritas.

Very much sherry forward, with an extra oomph of sweetness entwined with the already heady molasses notes. The aroma is dessert in a glass. The mouthfeel is rich and heavy with flavor. Notes of sherry rise to the top, but betwixt the mid-range and the deep base lie an assortment of baking spices, oak char, dark cocoa, banana flambe and dark cherry. A long finish leads to a slightly dry and tannic end. Overall, this is exceptional, and a welcome addition to the Mount Gay Master Blender Collection.
