Booker's Bourbon Batch 2015-01 "Big Man, Small Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2015 (edited January 14, 2017)On of the BEST Bookers in their 2015 releases. 2015-2 is comparable, but the viscosity makes it the stand out. -
I.W. Harper 15 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2015 (edited April 24, 2018)As long as you taste this with no other influences, it's great. Just make sure you have no other bourbons on your palate and you will taste Werthers originals/butterscotch, caramel, white sugar and oak. It's nice, but overpriced and easily dominated. -
Elijah Craig 23 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2015 (edited December 7, 2015)Disappointing. I'm a huge fan of the 21 & the barrel proof. The oak comes through so beautifully. This, there's not much more than chemical coming through on this one. Definitely try before you buy. 2nd tasting: Nail Polish remover on the nose. Spicy in the mouth. Vanilla & caramel I hear about are non-existent. -
Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey (Discontinued)
American Single Malt — Colorado, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2015 (edited January 22, 2016)I really wanted to like this. The flavors I get are difficult to describe. It comes across very musty and muted, perhaps fungus-y. I get no oak, no vanilla, none of the flavors I see described. Just an odd sour character. -
Lagavulin 16 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 4, 2015 (edited November 11, 2017)Yes, I know it has color added, but I don't care! Oh the smoke; the brine...the everything. For me, it just doesn't get any better than this. If I could only drink one whisky for the rest of my life, this would be it. Thank you Ron Swanson for introducing this to me years ago.
