Glenlivet Founder's Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 15, 2018 (edited February 18, 2018)Nose is similar to a spicy Hefeweizen : Banana and apple mixed with heat Mouthfeel: creamy and thick Taste: toffee, hint of vanilla. Nothing overbearing or that really stands out. The finish is what will mostly catches your attention with a burst of citrus zest and spice. This is a great everyday drinker. It’s not something you’re going to sit and contemplate and lose yourself in. This is like your neighbor ‘Jack’ that you can always depend on and borrow tools from and ask to watch the house when you’re away. You love Jack because he’s dependable. You’re never bothered when Jack pops around and when he does you’re not looking at your watch, trying to find a way to finish the conversation. This whiskey is Jack: dependable but not outstanding. The reason you keep coming back to it is because it never lets you down. Drink it everyday and share it with friends. -
Four Roses Yellow Label Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 11, 2017 (edited December 25, 2018)Nose: vanilla, caramel, medicinal antiseptic Mouthfeel: all very light classic bourbon. Not too spicy, not too sweet, not too toffee, not too oily. A hint of leather. Not to say that it’s bad but that it’s not a big bourbon. It’s pleasant and polite. Good sipper neat that won’t blow your chest away with heat. Finish: short. Very small slight bite of heat at the end. Solid decent great value bourbon. It’s not going to blow you away but it will never let you down. It’s no Ferrari of bourbons. It’s a more dependable Camry. Buy it for everyday drinking. -
Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 16, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)Solid bourbon at a great price. The spice hits you first with the sweetness. Strong leathery note dampens the finish though. Good sipper despite the finish. Would recommend it. -
