Reviewed December 14, 2019 (edited September 3, 2020)Nose: sweet, juniper and lemon Taste: lavender up front with good juniper spice Finish: thin and smooth. Nearly no burn Gin and tonic: the gin pairs well with the lime, but the gentle finish gets drowned out by the tonic water a bit -
Larceny Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 14, 2019 (edited January 2, 2020)Nose: syrupy sweetness up front, followed up by the smell of baked goods (maybe some corn too?) and finishes off with ripe banana Taste: the wheat gives you a tingle on the tongue that’s followed by a creaminess of syrup, caramel and light vanilla. Nice and sweet Finish: pretty short finish, more of a lingering texture than taste but sweetness yields to some light oak Old fashioned: 3.5/5 sweetness coupled well, but a stronger wheat note would be nice -
Nose: honey, mint and rye. Taste: extremely light mouthfeel. Light on the tongue with some honey and mint with almost a light lemon freshness. You can taste the higher rye. Finish: falls off fast and easy but crisp. Ends a little sweet and minty. I like it okay, but I like bourbons that punch you in the mouth more. Pretty disappointing. Old fashioned: 2.5/5. The flavors don’t make a great old fashioned. The bitters seem to deaden out the bourbon.

This was what got me into bourbon years ago. Nose: nice blend of spice, sweet and vanilla. Some smoke Taste: sweet nicely pairs with char, oak and spice. You can taste the high rye Finish: medium length with good peppery bite. Dry Old fashioned: the rye and spice complements the sweetness very well. Different than a four roses style where sweet meets sweet. 4/5

Nose: light nose. Very floral with some vanilla and raisin Taste: a “shallow” taste but you get a ton of flavors up front. Tons of rye immediately followed by honey and peach with a light oak flavor. Finish: the finish starts mellow but I feel like I can feel the spice heat up for a minute. The vanilla stays but also some leathery and old wood flavor.
