Quarter Horse Kentucky Rye Whiskey
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 29, 2023 (edited January 9, 2024)Caramel, light ethanol, latex paint, rye spices. Mostly inoffensive and light. The youth comes through as a light burn on the tongue and throat. This bottle was given to me as a gift. Im not sure if they dont like me, or just didn’t know any better. 😂 -
Dornoch Distillery Redacted (Thompson) Bros 6 Year Old TB/BSW
Blended — highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 22, 2023 (edited January 9, 2024)Neck pour is really quite good. Smells and tastes like a high quality 12 year old sherried single malt Highland Scotch. Just delicious sherry nuttiness, orange peel, light baking spices, and no sulphur.54.99 USD per Bottle -
Benriach The Original Ten
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 21, 2023 (edited January 9, 2024)Quite nice entry Scotch. Honey, apples, malt, vanilla, oats and baking spices on the nose. It’s balanced, full and creamy on the palate, almost has the feel of an Irish whiskey, with honey, apricots and malt notes. Short finish with mild bitterness, honey, malt-o-meal, hints of tropical fruits and baking spices. Hits a sweet spot for me. Seriously crushable. -

Appleton Estate 12 Year Rare Casks
Aged Rum — Jamaica
Reviewed December 7, 2023 (edited December 28, 2023)Strong hogo, molasses, overripe banana, brown sugar, tropical fruit, toffee, caramel, vanilla and oak notes. Semisweet and somewhat rich. Enjoyable enough neat. I’m about half way through this bottle. It seems like every pour has been somewhat unique with different notes accented. Not sure that i like it enough to buy another bottle. -

Gold Spot 9 Year Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed November 11, 2023 (edited April 19, 2024)Ok, ok, I’ve come back to reality. Tasting this on its own and its good, real good, but not worthy of my initial take. Nose: Berries, vanilla yogurt, granola, baking spices and tobacco. Palate: A little hot, but creamy and balanced, with berries, vanilla, baking spices, honey, tropical fruits, toasted grains and tobacco. Finish: Long and warming, with more berries, tropical fruit, and vanilla plus some oak and barrel spice. Initial take was Damn! and a 4.75 rating. -
5 cl taster curtesy of @ContemplativeFox. Oh so good! Spices, dark dried fruits, chocolate, oak, leather and vanilla notes. Full and balanced. A little smolder on the lengthy finish. Thank you @ContemplativeFox for the sample, and darn you @ContemplativeFox , because now I have to buy a bottle!
