Chocolate. Cereal. Similar to OE7. Very solid bourbon. Don’t think it edges out the A120 but it’s great. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Bad - Multiple flaws. 4. Below average - Not bad, but many things I'd rather have. 5. Good - Just average. 6. Very Good - Better than average. 7. Great - Well above average. 8. Excellent - In a league of its own. 9. Incredible - An all-time favorite. 10. Perfect

Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Very Fine Rare Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 25, 2021 (edited January 26, 2022)Oaky and bitter dried green apple nose. Little orange. Caramel. Palate is a little thin and disappointing. Bitter and oaky again on the palate. Slight cherry with green apple coming still. Finish is pretty short. Overall I’m a bit disappointed. This is the most expensive bottle I’ve bought and it’s not worth the price. It may be worth keeping on the shelf just to have some older bourbon, but it’s not my favorite. I may give it another shot but will probably trade it. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 14
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 10, 2021 (edited May 7, 2021)Sweet and fruity nose like all the batches I’ve tried (9-14). Maple syrup, caramel, dark cherry up front with slightly buttery popcorn and a hint of nuttiness in the back ground. Thick and oily mouthfeel with great coating on the tongue. Tobacco and oak notes in the center of the tongue and cherry coming through on the back end. Long, pleasant finish. All in I think this is one of the best bourbons I’ve tried. I think it’s slightly edged out (from memory) by the B13, B10 and B12 but we’re splitting hairs. I think SJR in general would be one of the only bourbons I’d pay secondary for. This is great. Interestingly I get a strong tangy “peach-o” candy note and apricot on the nose after the bottle’s been open a few months. 8. Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye
Canadian — Alberta, Canada
Reviewed February 9, 2021 (edited November 17, 2021)I’m not a rye fan but I really like this. Nose is light and sweet with very little of the spices, herbal and floral tones that have put me off of rye in the past. I get a slightly buttery note and very faint mint and spice on the nose that reminds me of a less “rye-y” MWND. Some rye notes I pick up in heavier rye MGP juice coming through. Caramel and maple syrup. The palate is where this shines. Super smooth and coats the tongue beautifully. Cherry is front and center. Minty freshness on the back end. Caramel on palate too. There is a lot more going on here I’ll have to parse over time. Finish is long and very pleasant. Heat lingers to remind you of the 66% alcohol, but isn’t obnoxious. Drinks below its proof. All in I’m a huge fan. This is the first rye I’ve gotten that I will put in my weekly rotation. 10. Perfect -
Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Rye (2020 Release)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 21, 2020 (edited July 6, 2022)Toasted marshmallow nose. Definitely more of a bourbon nose with some rye spice on the back end. Very powerful and complex palate. Toasted graham cracker and caramelized sugar. I don’t like ryes but this is one I’ll look out for. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3. One of the most unique bourbons I’ve tasted. Very familiar “lead paint” funkiness on the nose. Similar to Old Fitz 15. Originally hit with a wave of crazy fruits but it settled down to being mainly dark heavy cherry on the palate. Finish is rather lacking if I’m honest. Was hoping for a longer finish. This is probably the best “weird/unique” bourbon I’ve had. Probably won’t search it out but I’ll but it at retail if I ever see it. I use the rating scale below. Distiller uses a scale of 5 and I use a scale of 10, but I’m sure you’re not too drunk to do the math! 1. Disgusting - So bad I poured it out. 2. Poor - I wouldn't consume by choice. 3.
