Tastes

Not sure what to make of this yet. Reminds a lot of a tequila In some ways. Tons of funk on the nose and in the palate. Need to try this with some mixers and in a daiquiri, where I think it will be best for me. While it is plenty complex and certainly good quality, I don’t see this as a sipper.

Finally found a bottle of this to take home after tasting it at a rum festival. Very vanilla forward on the nose and the palate, but for me, this works in creating a nice, unique sipping rum I enjoy very much. It has a soft and well rounded flavor with tons of vanilla throughout, though it is not overly sweet at all. Glad to have this product and considering getting the Blanche prestige as well. Love the bottle design.

Wow. All around great rum. Nose is nice, with a bit of funk, but the palate is more classic molasses with a good amount of spice on the finish. incredibly good all around contender for sipping. Very happy with this one.

Ooooh yes. This is the Spanish style rum I’ve been looking for. This beats out Don Q Gran Anejo for me, and is the best Puerto Rican rum I’ve tasted thus far. Don’t let the plain bottle aesthetics fool you. This is good sipping stuff.

Was hoping for more from this. Solid dry rum, with nice notes, but not quite as special an experience as I had hoped for considering my love for Bajan rums. Still nothing bad at all here. Perhaps I’ll appreciate it more over time.

Quite nice. The port is there but not intrusive or taking over the rum. A great choice, but I don’t know if it’s quite worth the MSRP.

Rich and sweet, but not cloying. refined. A special sipper if you can find it.

A markedly different style of rum. Certainly has more vegetal notes, but I would not call this a bad thing at all. Has enough sweetness to be pleasing but not overly sweet by any means. I’m intrigued and want to try other Rhum Agricole products. As an aside, I really Love the bottle design. It exudes class and even hides the screw top well enough not to bother me (though I would have preferred the cork). Great job on aesthetics. Also shows off the Rhum’s pleasing color very well.
