My scoring system often gets me high points for some whiskies, and even with that system this dram couldn't make it to 4.0. Don't get me wrong, it is not a bad dram at all, but what it has in complexity on the nose just couldn't deliver into the palate and the finish is way to short and a little boring. Bottled at 40%abv, golden color. On the nose is quite a jewel. Lots of aroma notes:Hazelnut, Cocoa Milk powder, Wedding cake, Raisins, Nice aroma not savage nor dim, After a while pear or green apples appear, After a longer while lemonade appears. Prunes also. On the palate is easy, with Almonds, Nutty and Oaky, Cinnamon and Plain old wood. Finish is very short with cinnamon hints. Overall i give this dram a 79 over 100, and that is because the nose is so great.

I actually did not take any notes while drinking it, so i will be precise in what i remember of it. It wasn't that great, with honey notes on the nose, vanilla and some oak. The palate was a little regular, honey also, peppery notes and hints of chocolate. Too simple. Overall i give this dram a fair 73 over 100. A little overpriced for $110.

Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 24, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)Not what i expected it to be. Too normal and straightforward. Bottled at 46%abv with an amber color. On the nose: caramel, blackberry marmalade, liquorice, and a light peat. On the palate: it is a spice bomb, very pleasant, it is a hot bomb too, some sugary note as toasted caramel, finish is oaky and with orange notes. Pleasant taste, but it lacks emotion. Overall it is a 74 over 100. There are better single malts out there. -
Glenlivet The Master Distiller's Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 24, 2020 (edited August 20, 2020)This is the cheapest expression of Glenlivet's Master Distiller's Reserve editions for travel retail. 40%abv. On the nose: new Wood, Herbal notes, wet Forest, dim Vanilla. On the palate, Oak and Pepper. Thats it. Aftertaste medium, pepper and clove. Needed to add water to see if it can give something else: Water opens a dim and "spicy" apple on the palate Overall i give this dram a 78 over 100 -
Smooth elegant whisky, on the nose is fruity but you can get herbal, caramel and grapes. On the palate is sweet at first with caramel notes, then it switches to an elegant hotness and spicyness. Long delightful finish. Elegant dram, for the price is difficult to have anything better. Smoke is present in a beatiful way. Very winey. 85 /100

Glenlivet Founder's Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 24, 2020 (edited November 4, 2020)This is definitively the best Glenlivet i have had, (this is my third, after 12 yo and 15yo french oak) and it has great flavor but as any other Glenlivet, the aroma is a little dim, losing points in my score. Bottled at 40%abv, burnished color. On the nose is nice, but very dim. It is hard to nose this Glenlivet because the aroma is almost "ghostly". Ginger, Wine grapes, tobacco, apple Juice and honey are the notes i got. On the palate is very pleasant, very smooth, very balanced. Honey, toffee, new wood, ginger and dried tobacco leaf are the main notes i found. Medium bodied, but with a long lovely spicy finish. Overall is a good whisky, i believe people who want a normal/sweet dram every now and then can enjoy it. 80/100 -
A slightly better, more refined expression of the same tasting and nosing notes found in the Glengoyne 15yo Distillers Gold, this 18yo one is a fine dram without changing anyone's life. Bottled at 40%abv, burnished gold color. On the nose it is simple but good. Cinnamon and red apples. On the palate more of the same: honey, a very fancy refined honey and pepper. The aftertaste is cinnamon and ashy. An enjoyable dram but not one to remember. 77 over 100.

Glengoyne 15 Year (Discontinued)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 24, 2020 (edited August 18, 2024)A highland that surely feels like a speysider. Very fruity, very straightforward. It is a normal dram. Bottled at 40% abv, pale straw color (actually a rare thing for a 15 yo). On the nose is better than in the palate. Orange jam, orange hard candy, brown sugar. Not much else but fine aroma in those three notes. On the palate is mostly peppery, with some honey and red apple notes. Finish is medium, with an oaky burn. Overall i give this dram a 71 over 100. -
it is a very pleasant and smooth whisky. the problem is that it is very soft on the nose and very straightforward on the palate. on the nose you get plum. cocoa powder (i got this after nosing it a lot) and a little bit of acetone. on the palate is very very very pleasant. smooth, salty, oaky, with a hot spicy medium finish but very pleasant. refreshing dram, good

I feel i had high hopes for this one, but it was kind of disappointing, since it is a normal dram, not too many things happening here, and you cant say it is bad, but it is not great, it is fair. Bottled at 40%Abv, it has a beautiful burnished color. On the nose it is very very very difficult to percieve since its aroma is "deaf", meaning you have to put your whole nose to a test here. I followed another reviewer's advice (Paul Macieri) to let it sit, and it grew a little bit, helping me to get all the notes that i will proceed to describe: after Hiding its notes under the glass, i got ashes (like a extinguished bonfire peatyness), berries, prunes peel, dry apricot peel, caramel (toffee) and a little bit of a malty oakyness. This is the most fruity whisky i have ever nosed, almost chewable, maybe because i had to stick my nose into the glencairn glass for a couple of minutes. On the Palate it is hot, but manageable, oaky, earthy, grassy, a little peated, very little. finish is short-medium, and it is medium bodied. after adding just one little drop of water the whole aroma faded, to never return again, but in the palate changed everything. As soon as you taste it spices which werent there at all without water, start to rise to give you a full spicy mouth, similar to black pepper or ginger. it is a fair whisky, maybe it is not for me, but i have had better. As a fact, yesterday i had macallan 10yo fine oak and that one is far superior. cheers!
