Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2022 (edited July 6, 2023)π Vanilla and higher proof than it is π Green apple, but you have to try. Honestly nothing special and drinks hot π Really disappointed all the way through. No funky taste. Tastes like bourbon, but hot and boring for a single barrel product. Maybe I got a bad one π€· Even tried adding a drop of water (which it shouldn't need... Same -
Old Forester 1897 Bottled In Bond
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 15, 2022 (edited July 6, 2023)π Slightly over-ripe plum. Just a whisper and hair past perfect. Other than that, kind of a nothing burger π The same flavor drifts onto the palate. In the back palate, I can find a bit of fresh baked sugar cookie π Nice jammy finish. Drinks right at that 100 proof. Doesn't blow your socks off, but it's a solid sipper -
Old Forester 1870 Original Batch
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 15, 2022 (edited July 6, 2023)π Peaches, orange peel, and white grape juice π Definitely some citrus notes goin on. Maybe a lil maple syrup. Drinks a little hotter than 90 proof, but still enjoyable neat π Nothing special here. Classic vanilla with a little cinnamon. Proofiness on the palate doesn't carry through -
π Holy π bomb. Maybe burnt sugar and a faint vanilla, but π all day π More classic bourbon on the palate. The faint vanilla from the nose is more pronounced here. Definitely a citrus aspect here. Maybe orange. π Very interesting citrus notes on the finish. Orange and maybe some of that cherry π from the nose. Super complex

Old Forester 1897 Bottled In Bond
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 4, 2022 (edited November 17, 2022)π Cherry pie with whipped cream. Cantaloupe? No, it's green apple. π Oily, coat your mouth goodness. Some of the same sweet fruit notes with classic bourbon and burnt sugar π Still getting π on the finish -
π Oat, oak, almond and a strong marischino cherry. Very nice π Coats your mount with a sweet oily bourbon. Lots of toasted oak π Back to the complex, yet approachable flavors from the nose. I'd have guessed < 100 proof This is one of the first bottles I ever bought that got me interested in trying different bourbons, and it's still one of the best at this price point!48.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More

Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed October 26, 2022 (edited July 6, 2023)π Butterscotch, toffee. Maybe even coffee beans. Last time I reviewed this I got grapefruit. Upon a return after reading that, I can still see it π Oily. Really coats your mouth. Maybe π and some other fruit. A bit of nuttiness π Definitely unique. Banana nut bread. Some pine or oak? This one drinks much smoother than the proof would indicate. I don't love it as much as some do, but still a great sipper.
