N:nice oak upfront mildly tabnic, cherry cola, Charr or black tea, some of the herbal and baking spice like nutmeg is there on the back P: wood spice, black cherry and ethanol upfront, spice rises then sweetness like confectioners sugars on the end, medium/heavy viscosity F: long, combination of the drier wood spice sweetness linger This is not my favorite batch of stj, the wood note is a little drying and sharper imo and the sweetness is more sugary and one note where other batches are more cohesive to my palate, that said- it's still great

Michter's US*1 American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — USA
Reviewed March 13, 2022 (edited August 25, 2022)Nose: butterscotch, vanilla icing, lemon Palate: follows the nose, a little spice but nothing out of bounds, thin Finish: smooth and easy, not long Really nice flavor for such a light proof, seems to be the michters specialty, this is an easy sipper that reminds me of glenfarclas, it's a combination of scotch and bourbon to me, not very complex but enjoyable -
N: prominent sweetness and fruit, orange peel, grape/wine twinge T: matches the nose, sweetness up front, not sugary more sweet fruit, spice at the back, mildly tannic, a little younger oak F: moderate finish, spice lingers, not a ton of complexity, medium viscosity not super oily or coating Pretty balanced, but a little more age would help the bourbon stand out I think, the armanagac is more prominent here to me with just some spice

Weller Antique 107 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 3, 2022 (edited February 6, 2022)N: Carmel, dry oak, honey, weak mint, light vanilla cream P: light-medium viscosity, mild sweetness Carmel, little vanilla and cinnamon, dough F: fades softly, mild cinnamon lingers This is nice, but nothing special imo, it’s “smooth” but not very complex and kind of sleepy, an easy sipper but nothing out of this world -
Balcones Texas Blue Corn Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed January 16, 2022 (edited August 30, 2023)This thing is loud and hot. Had the bottle open 6 months and still it’s punchy. One of the thickest and oiliest bourbons I’ve had N: distinct balcones crème brûlée or peanut brittle, nuttiness P: even proofed down with water alcohol hits first, some dark chocolate and corn, some of the Texas dustiness F: alcohol, dry oak, grilled fruit Nice flavors, super dark but so hot, not often you say some some 130 proof drinks over proof but this one does -
Michter's US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 24, 2021 (edited January 3, 2022)N: lemon peel; grapefruit, black tea; tart cherry, tannic oak, pine and cut grass, unusual nose T: tart cherry and dry leaves, citrus, rye bread, graham cracker F: good richness and mouthfeel for a light abv, but flavor never builds to anything substantial, finish ends dry, not my favorite michters -
N: strong vanilla, strong ethanol, very light red fruit, no wood P: waves of vanilla, mild oak arrives and fades quickly long alcohol burn without flavor O: this whiskey irritated me, it mgp distilled but they don't mention that on the label, you can find almost no specifics on this on their website, this was just undone by the amount of alcohol that remained on the nose and it covered the finish, even after being opened for months, I like high abv for the richness and full flavor and this had neither, disappointing

N:new oak, sour cherry/ raisins - prominent sourness, green apples, Carmel candy, menthol or anise, a lighter herbal quality such as mint chocolate or basil even, lemon P: initially caramel and the sour fruit followed quickly by dry oak - the dryness lingers with cinnamon spice or and apple cider vinegar O: Interesting flavors, good complexity especially for how young it is, a little uneven on the palate and a bit too fresh on the oak and too dry on the back end, could be very nice to see this older and more calmed down
