Bruichladdich Black Art 1994 8.1 Edition 26 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 31, 2021One of the few whiskies I describe as beautiful. I’ve enjoyed coming back to this bottle over the weeks and am always left wanting more. The sweet, the subdued malt, the delicate richness (how is that even possible?), the bursting fruity transforming nose. Just an excellent example of some extremely well managed aging. Beautiful pour. -
291 Barrel Proof Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Colorado , USA
Reviewed June 7, 2021 (edited June 11, 2021)Sorry but aspen is not a wood to age whiskey with. Unless it’s an emergency I guess. You can put all kind of gold medal stickers on it… and I fell for it. But. Aspen is an astringent tannic soft wood and doesn’t add to the flavor, it detracts. The base whiskey is delicious. -
Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Batch Proof 128.3
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 7, 2021 (edited March 3, 2022)Not a Woodford fan BUT This batch proof offering is an excellent selection. It’s a shining example of the classic bourbon gooey caramel, oaky and vanilla, spiced oak pour we all think of for bourbon. This batch hit it out of the park for me. EXCELLENT CLASSIC BOURBON. Top shelf. -
Was skeptical. But I thoroughly enjoyed this. Nose: mildly sweet brown sugar vanilla cherry. Taste was an enjoyable follow up with sweet tobacco, iced tea, juicyfruit and oak. Finished very nicely on a caramel fruit oak fade. Pretty much over and done with BT products in general for a while now. But for me, this little gem is my favorite of the accessible bunch.

Laws Four Grain Straight Bourbon Cask Strength
Bourbon — Colorado, USA
Reviewed June 7, 2021 (edited May 1, 2022)The marriage of this 4 grain’s components have won me over. Revisiting this bottle it a treat. Have since picked up another bottle. Top shelf. Special occasion. The balance of the rye, wheat, corn and barley is spot on. Just a wonderful whiskey, very impressive. -
