All things including price considered, this is one of my absolute favorite rye whiskeys to date and a staple in my cabinet. This is my daily driver and I always have a bottle in my rotation. I typically enjoy it neat and at $35.00 a bottle it is one of the best at this price point. It has the sting and heat of young rye up front that I personally love but is balanced out quite nicely by the finish. Even with High West now using thier own young distillate this entry remains excellent. N - honey, oak, mint P - rye spice, vanilla, carmelized sugar F - long, hot, honey, tobacco35.99 USD per Bottle

Unlike some others reviewers I really and truly enjoyed this one. It was different than many other rye whiskeys and was one of the most crisp and refreshing I have had to date. It is nice to have at least one whiskey that is light on the palate. N- sweet, citrus, vanilla, young P- rye spice, apple, pepper F- short, clean, crisp (like white wine)

Sagamore Spirit 'Sagamore Reserve' Moscatel Barrel Finished (2017 Limited Edition Release)
Rye — (bottled in) Maryland, USA
Reviewed October 23, 2019 (edited April 20, 2022)This one surprised me. Sagamore has yet again created a wonderful variation of thier rye whiskey. This may be a bit sweeter than some rye purists would prefer. It smells a bit sweet and is very easy to sip neat. The rye sting is late and subtle but in a good way. I will be keeping a bottle in my rotation. Cheers! N - Honey, syrup, cinnamon P - Baking spices, grapes, berries F - long, sweet, dry59.99 USD per Bottle -
High West A Midwinter Night's Dram
Rye — (bottled in) Utah, USA
Reviewed October 17, 2019 (edited August 2, 2020)Act 7 Scene 2. Better than Act 6, but not as good as Acts 2&3. This was definitely an improvement over act 6. The flavors are blended much better and the port finish is only a whisper to my nose and palate. I think High West is well on it's way to creating a wonderful Midwinter Nights Dram with it's own distillate. They aren't quite there, it does still taste a bit young. I can't help but feel they are still a couple of years away from the quality blended flavors in the earlier acts. To all those concerned, the brine flavor of some other High West products is almost non existant in this act. Overall I enjoyed it. P.S. I did buy a second bottle this year. N - Maple syrup, cinnamon, spice P - red berries, baking spice, wood F - Longer than expected, dry89.99 USD per Bottle -
Whistlepig 10 Year Small Batch Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed October 11, 2019 (edited December 27, 2019)Working with 100% rye is notoriously difficult and Whistle Pig has done an outstanding job with this rye. This 10 year and the 12 year from Whistle Pig are both permanent fixtures in my rotation. When I want what I consider to be the prototype rye flavor and heat I always reach for the Whistle Pig 10 year. N - Toffee, honey, minty spice P - nutty, vanilla, rye spice F - Strong, long, wood, caramel, spice82.99 USD per Bottle -
I would recommend pouring this one in your glass and letting it sit for a few minutes. This helps to tone down the sweetness on the nose from the finishing process. The wine and vermouth were a bit overwhelming initially. I did enjoy this addition to the High West collection. The dram was quite nice as it evolved from the time I poured it until the final sip. It started very fruity, sweet, and almost cloying. By the end after some breath it was easier to notice the typical rye flavors. I will be keeping a bottle in my rotation. N - dark fruit, butter, vermouth P - sweet, apple, nutty, oak F - short, crisp, and a lingering of what I can only describe as a resemblance of the sparkling grape juice we give the kids on New Year's Eve.83.99 USD per Bottle

High West Bourye (2019 Release)
Blended American Whiskey — Indiana, USA
Reviewed October 7, 2019 (edited August 5, 2020)This is a quality rye that you can sip solo, but I am undecided on whether or not it will make my final rotation. Most likely not as there are others I prefer at this price point. Too much brine on the palate for me. The old "your mileage may vary" is appropriate here. N - Butter, vanilla, licorice P - Nutty, brine, rye spice F - mid length, spice, caramel79.99 USD per Bottle -
Sagamore Spirit Port Finish Rye (2019 Release)
Rye — Maryland, USA
Reviewed October 5, 2019 (edited June 16, 2022)Tasted a bit young to my tongue. The toffee really stood out to my nose. I truly enjoyed this dram. Some may not enjoy port finishes on their rye, but I fancy it when done correctly. Sagamore has done it correctly, trust me. I will be keeping a bottle in my permanent rotation. N- spice, toffee P- dark chocolate, plum, rye spice F- dry, caramel74.99 USD per Bottle -
