Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 5, 2022 (edited November 19, 2022)I love Elijah Craig I feel like the oak is just has the right balance and presence that some bourbon don’t have. On the noise I get oak, baking spices, a hint of vanilla & brown sugar, cherry and green apple. The palate is sweet up front with the apple note caring through on the palate. Mid palate brings some spices, like clove and cinnamon, on the back end I get a nice oak presence with a hint of barrel char. The finish is short to medium with a nice spice character, oak, fruity sweetness, the is a light mouth coating as well. Very good representation of what bourbon is supposed to taste like, is my daily drinker.32.99 USD per Bottle -
On the nose I get peanut brittle, oak, brown sugar, and hints of dark chocolate, and leather. On the palette some brown sugar and candy sweetness, then spice builds clove, cinnamon, and pepper cover the tongue. It finishes with tons of oak, and barrel char, and more pepper. This one is more spicy then sweet, and gives you a nice hug, not quite as good as the other pick I had. I guess 1 year more makes a noticeable difference. I was excited to try this being the last bottle of the whiskey row series. My initial taste was unimpressive very thin with not a ton of flavor. I have had it open for several weeks and I am going back for a taste. On the nose I get oak, cinnamon, brown sugar, green apple, and a hint of banana. On the palate this one opens kind of flat, the mid plate brings spice and oak and not a much else. The finish reminds me of a scotch with a touch of ginger and cereal grains. Just not my jam, I feel this falls flat compared to the other whiskey row releases.39.99 USD per Bottle

Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 20, 2022 (edited November 11, 2022)I’ve been meaning to try this bottle for a while and just hadn’t gotten around to it. I tried it right after I got it and it was really thin but flavorful. On the nose I get some candied fruit sweetness, green apple, clove, brown sugar, and a good amount of oak. On the palate there is a touch of sweetness up front then the spice quickly comes in. Cinnamon, clove, a touch of nutmeg, and loads of oak. The finish is short to medium with the oak spice hanging around the longest. Overall not a bad pour but the price is a bit high for what you get. Eagle rare is still my favorite 10 yr at 90 proof.39.99 USD per Bottle -
Maker's Mark 46 French Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 17, 2022 (edited November 7, 2022)My first impression wasn’t favorable with this pour I felt it was very metallic and bright. It has sat a few weeks and the nose has really opened up. I get a nice oak presence, baked apples, some dark chocolate, and hint of mesquite. The front of the palate bring sweetness Carmel and green apple. The mid plate is oak and baking spices, leading to a oaky finish and some drying. Not a long finish or complex evaluation. Still this has gotten better then it was a few weeks ago. I like the makers cask strength better and would like to compare this to the 46 cask strength. All in all everything I have tried from Makers other then the standard offering has been pretty good.39.99 USD per Bottle -
Very good value for a single barrel and at an easy to drink proof point, no wonder it is a favorite. On the noise I get vanilla, and brown sugar with a strong green apple note. The palate is sweet upfront with a mid plate spice like apple pie spice and pepper. The finish is light with some oak, floral perfume, and, light barrel char, with a touch of heat. Very good pour for the money, coats the mouth with a slightly oily mouth feel.45.0 USD per BottleFine Wine and Good Spirits

Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 31, 2022 (edited October 10, 2022)First Knob Creek barrel pick I have ever tried and certainly won’t be the last. All I can say is this is one of my top 5 pours and it will not disappoint. The color is very dark almost a burnt mahogany color. On the noise I get cherry vanilla cola and a hint of oak. The palate starts out like a a sweet cherry chocolate cordial followed by loads of baking spices and a warm Kentucky hug. The finish is lingering with oak, cherry pits, and just of touch of peanut shells. The finish is long and gives a nice mouth coating with lots of barrel notes and char, love this pour. Penelope Toasted Barrel Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana , USA
Reviewed July 31, 2022 (edited December 12, 2022)All I can say is wow!! I wish I had picked up one of these bottles a long time ago. This reminds me a lot of cross between wild turkey rare bread and knob creek single barrel. In the nose I get spicy oak, vanilla, brown sugar, and fresh baked cinnamon buns. One the palate I get a dark sweetness like brown sugar, then comes the baking spice cinnamon and some clove. This finish is light with a touch of charred oak and oily mouth feel. The finish defiantly lingers and makes my mouth water. Hands down would defiantly purchase again do not overlook Penelope great bottle at a fair price. Knob Creek 12 Year Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 24, 2022 (edited August 19, 2022)I have had this one for a few weeks and almost finished the bottle. This about my 6 time drinking a pour it defiantly not be the last. On the noise I get the typical Jim beam nuttiness with vanilla frosting, on a cinnamon bun with a very faint hint of oak. On the palate I get sweet vanilla up front with a mid palate spice punch, then followed buy oak and peanut shell. The finish is nice and lingering, mouth coating and spice that sticks with you. Overall if you can find it at retail it is worth the price. I have enjoyed this bottle and look forward to picking up another.60.0 USD per BottleFine Wine & Good Spirits - Premium Collection -
Smooth Ambler Old Scout Straight Bourbon (NAS)
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in West Virginia), USA
Reviewed July 14, 2022I had high hopes for this one non-chill filter equals flavor?…. This certainly has flavor on the noise I get buttered bread and a hint of spice maybe nutmeg or clove. After taking a sip I get a little more traditional flavors of vanilla and caramel. On the palate I get sweetness up from which quickly turns into baking spices, there is also a cherry cough drop or cough syrup note leading into the finish. There is a lot of spice and not much else on the finish no really oak to speak of, just a nice warm Kentucky hug. Overall not a bad pour for the money better then some $50 bottles I’ve had.35.0 USD per BottleFine Wine & Good Spirits
