Riverset Straight Rye Whiskey Barrel Strength
Rye — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed March 7, 2022 (edited January 2, 2024)123.4 proof. Bottle number is 14, but there’s no mention of a batch or anything, so I haven’t any idea whether it’s the 14th bottle ever or the 14,000th. It does say it was hand selected for Texas though, so I know I’m special. On the nose oak, caramel, rye, peach, citrus peel and pear; soft but complex. Rich and spicy on the palate, with flavors of caramel, cinnamon, vanilla, raisin, oak, black pepper, rye. Spicy finish. Hot, but not overly so, particularly for the proof. Full bodied. Quite good really. @twostalSIERRA LIQUORS BEERS WINES -
Bruxo X Edición Espadín Barril
Mezcal Joven — Oaxaca , Mexico
Reviewed March 5, 2022 (edited March 7, 2022)Nose is green and vegetal agave, grass, oak, toast, vanilla, petrichor, bandaids, vanilla and minerality. On the palate mineral, agave, a little pepper, wood and a whiff of smoke. It smells great, and the flavors are all there, it’s just thin. Really thin actually. Disappointing. Bruxos are among my favorite mezcals.SIERRA LIQUORS BEERS WINES -
Lionello Rosso Vermouth
Vermouth — Czech Republic
Reviewed February 28, 2022 (edited August 6, 2022)Pretty standard nose, though a bit mild. Sweet red wine, herbs, wood and something akin to caramel. Sweet and lighter than expected on the palate, tasting exactly as it smells. Does not make a good Negroni. -
Saint Liberty Josephine's Flat Head River Straight Rye
Rye — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed February 27, 2022 (edited March 15, 2022)Nose of strong rye, clove, oak, peach, marshmallow, leather, grass and mint. Spicy on the palate, with vanilla, rye, oak, clove, orange, apple and cherry. I’ve gone back and forth between 3.75 and 4.0, but ultimately I think I’ll go with 4.25 for the richness of the flavors. This seems like an approachable rye for the unsure, but it’s rich and quite delicious at whatever level.Total Wine & More -
