Reviewed March 5, 2020 (edited April 24, 2020)Nose is vanilla, plums, fresh grains, and a touch of spice. Taste is sweet raisins, light smoke, and vanilla. Finish is nice and long, with no alcohol burn. -
Tamnavulin Double Cask
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 2, 2020 (edited October 29, 2020)Overall a light, easily approachable scotch. Nose is honey, caramel, underripe pears, and white bread. Taste is pear apple fruitiness, cigar tobacco, and light oak. Finish is short and fairly weak but still pleasant. -
Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 28, 2020 (edited March 1, 2020)Nose is vanilla, orange, a touch of leather, and rock candy. Taste is sweet grain and corn, oak, heat, and some butterscotch. Long pleasant finish. -
Whistlepig 10 Year Straight Rye Barrel Strength
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed December 24, 2019 (edited December 30, 2019)3rd bottle of my Christmas whiskey share ($80ish bottles). Nose is warm buttery spices, caramel, vanilla, and an acetone note. Taste is sour grain, grass, heavy spices, and leather. Finish is long and fairly hot but enjoyable. Great rye whiskey. -
Lagavulin 16 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 21, 2019 (edited December 23, 2019)Part two of my Christmas whiskey share ($80ish range). Nose is campfire smoke, seawater, brown sugar, and bbq. Taste is wonderfully peaty, raisins, brine, drying, and a touch of iodine. The finish is long, Smokey, with hints of iodine. Overall a great islay expression, highly recommended. -
Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 21, 2019 (edited December 29, 2019)Nose is oaked vanilla, butter, and baking spices. Taste is rich leather, cinnamon, butter, and ginger snap cookies. Finish is long, warm, and redolent of maple syrup. -

Reviewed December 21, 2019 (edited December 24, 2019)Part one of my Christmas whiskey share ($80ish range). Pours a beautiful dark honey color. Nose is super rich honey, sherry, butter, and sugar cookies. Taste is rich spicey holiday cake, pipe tobacco, and butter. Finish is long and warm. Wonderful scotch and perfect for Christmas for sure!
