Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 29, 2021 (edited January 25, 2023)Genuinely bland. Every flavor is weak. A general sweetness, some backend spice and maybe a slight hint of fruit. For the price, at least 50 better options to go to. -

Bardstown Bourbon Co. Fusion Series #4
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed April 17, 2021 (edited December 1, 2021)Super interesting flavors. You can taste the obvious younger whiskey giving off vibrant notes of spice (being higher rye mashbills) but then finish is extremely mellow and pleasant. It has a....disconnect? Mid-palate that I can’t figure out what is going on, but overall full of flavors. This is the first bardstown product I’ve tried, but I’m certainly interested to keep trying them in the future. -
Casamigos Añejo Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Highlands, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed April 9, 2021 (edited July 1, 2022)Not a huge tequila fan but I was surprised by how much I enjoy this one. Light, sweet, fruity, but I have no bitter aftertaste (a good thing). Supposedly spicy but as a high proof whiskey drinker I really cant find any. At least not what I would consider spice. -
I really enjoy this bottle. Yes, the proof is low. However, its sweet and soft, providing a great sipper when you just want a mellow and easy to drink pour that isn’t a proof bomb. I like to warm up my pallet with this dram before I work into something much higher proof like a bookers or smoke wagon.

Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 19, 2021 (edited April 21, 2021)A solid store pick from someone I trust to select great barrels. It really hits the mark and demonstrates why Blantons is so desirable. However, I found one at a big box store for $54 and bought it. Just an off the shelf blantons....3 to 3.5 at best. I was shocked at how different they were. I understand single barrel variance, but I would not have guessed they were the same proof or even both from BT. The regular store blantons was ethanol heavy on the nose and had a very bitter aftertaste. I let it open up for a few weeks and tried again. The aftertaste was much improved but all the flavors were turned pretty far down, even considering the proof. -
