Revisited this in Dec 2020. Noted more barrel char on finish, and a note of mint/rosemary up front. Upped to 3.5. will be a standard on my bar as it's a great daily always available value sipper Terrific value bourbon. Notable deep color. Nose shows vanilla, burnt caramel, rye hay funk and oak. Somewhat sweet front, well rounded, finishes hot and carries some notes of fall spices. More vanilla. A Hint of light tobacco, but that could be from last night's cigar.22.99 USD per Bottle

John J Bowman Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed December 31, 2019 (edited February 13, 2020)Nose is oak, leather, barrel char and hints of cinnamon and light tobacco. Soft mouthfeel yields to heat. Vanilla, caramel and fresh cut oak follow the Dry and hot palate contrast the soft mouthfeel. Long warm finish shows some spice and more oak. 4.27.20 I've had three or four bottles of this now, and found that the experience has ranged from unforgettable to, well less so. A lot of variability in these, but some of them could easily be rated a 4-4.25. -

Rolled rye/oats mid palate and a chocolate finish. I'm not as fond of Sherry casked Scotch as I once was, but this is enjoyable. Some lingering warmth in the chest. -
