Tastes

Light peat on nose, lots of oak, burnt sugar/burnt orange peel, barn must. Super soft on the palate, barrel dominates finish with notes of cacao, vanilla and salt in there. Fantastic value

Tasted again on 5.20. Upgraded to 3.75 Complex and interesting, but not my favorite. Chocolate, fall spices, nutty oak and herbal nose Biting spiciness on the front, lightly salty mid and back. Hints of smoke throughout. Salty burnt caramel finish.

Barrel and corn dominate the nose, vanilla and dark caramel. Hints of rye and barn must. Biting, hot front tempered by a few drops of water. Some spice comes through mid palate and the barrel comes back again. Long warming finish with notes of chocolate and stored oak logs. This has incredible balance and far beyond average complexity.

This is one of my favorite ryes for use in an old-fashioned. Lots of tart fruit on the nose, cinnamon and cedar behind Granny Smith apples balanced by some vanilla Soft palate with late warmth sweeter than I expected The oak comes through later. Barrel notes come through the finish. This is well balanced and delicious.

Fruit, sweet rye grains, green apple. Hint of brulee. Some spice mid palate, warmth down the throat more fruit on the finish. White bread toast. Same semi sweet hay as all the WP Offerings, but less ronounced. This is tasty and a great value

1/2 off at the ABC store. Good value at $19... Vanilla, cinnamon caramel and rye notes. Warm palate carries spice to finish. Dry and woody finish with a bit more vanilla

The high rye mash bill comes in clearly. Cinnamon, Christmas spices, musty hay and dry oak Caramel and green apple, more spice. A bit of lingering sweetness hangs in there with vanilla frosting and oak lumber

Raisins and dates among the Sherry barrels and clove studded oranges and eucalyptus. Soft and Smoky palate with lots of char and burn caramel. Some cacao notes. Vanilla and syrupy sweetness.

Hints of field corn among the well balanced nose. Nothing jumps out, but it's all there. Light peat, honey, pear and toast, cinnamon hard candies. Palate is where the peat comes through. Cornflakes in among the salty and dry oak.

Nose is completely dominated by wood. Barrel char, tree bark, tobacco and burnt caramel something very herbal. Maybe the stump of a rosemary or mint bush. A bit of vanilla in there. Dry, astringent palate. Cedar closet, caramel, more charred wood... a bit of sticky sweetness helps add some dimension.
