After a couple bottles of local store picks it is back to the original with this review. One large ice cube. Nose - I think the ice really affected the nose here. Not much to say. Corn and other sweet notes. Taste - sweet and spicy. Starts sweet and mellow. Sugar, corn, basic spices. Transitions over into some baking spices, oak, and light pepper. Overall - this is one bourbon I just don’t enjoy neat so I start drinking with an ice cube or Large cube. Unfortunately the flavor profiles are just overall average.28.0 USD per Bottle

Heaven Hill Bottled In Bond 7 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 27, 2020 (edited September 29, 2020)2nd review on same bottle enjoying neat. Nose - heavy notes of honey, there is also some caramel, oak and some tobacco. Taste - very sweet as soon as it hits the tongue. Heavy vanilla up front transitions into honey. The back end is all about some pungent flavors of oak and tobacco with a slight pepper hint at the end to make this a great balanced bourbon. Overall - solid bottle for 35-50$ range. Well balanced but I would say this one is on the slightly sweeter end of the spectrum. Very good and will be looking to keep this bottle in stock37.0 USD per Bottle -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 27, 2020 (edited August 28, 2020)Popped open a new bottle so have to review. Enjoying this glass neat. Nose - sugar, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon mixed with some slight ethanol burn. Palate - nice sweet and light at the beginning. A lot of vanilla and tobacco. The finish is long for days with leather and sweet and spicy cinnamon candies like a red hot. First pour from this bottle seems less spicier than my last. Overall - super glad I found this bottle for retail at only 42$. It is worth every penny. First pour is very well balanced. Cool looking bottle and label for style points.42.0 USD per Bottle -
Reviewing this one once again with one ice cube. Nose - maple, peanuts, bananas, and a Smokey note to it. Taste - super sweet front. Maple syrup and custard. Transitions into a rather spicy pepper but the ice cube really mellows this out compared to drinking it neat. Overall - highly suggest an ice cube to enjoy this one. If you like maple, this one is for you. Very cool bottle label but I still shy away from the 50$ price tag.

Isaac Bowman Straight Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed August 25, 20202nd time review of same bottle. Enjoying neat. Nose - cherries up front, heavy leather and some oak. Sweet and sugary with some fruits blended in well. Smells very good and unique. Taste - this one tastes much like it smells. Sweet up front with cherries and sugar but with a pungent spice shortly after. Transitions into more of a Smokey and lightly spicy profile. End is smooth and long with a lot of leather and pecan notes. There is so much going on with this bourbon it’s hard to describe everything. Overall - great unique bottle, unique nose, overall well balanced bourbon sweet and spicy. Great bottle to have under the 40/50$ range. -
Maker's Mark Cask Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 24, 2020 (edited September 22, 2020)2nd time review but this time with a single Ice cube. Nose - some ethanol burn expected from the proof, cinnamon, spices, tobacco and some subtle yet very refreshing bananas. Taste - very full, rich and robust start to finish. Vanilla kicks this one off like other makers mark products. Some nice heat to this one even after an Ice cube. Tobacco oak and cinnamon are on the finish which is medium to short. Overall - going to keep playing around with this one. I like it but don’t love it compared to some other barrel proof offerings. -
2nd time reviewing and this time with a single small cube of ice. Nose - orange peel, sugar, slightly oak smell. Taste - I think one ice cube makes this a better bourbon. I remember this mostly a flavor profile of spicy candy. I get a nice vanilla taste up front. Oak and sugar round off the tongue and finishes with a much lighter than before cinnamon candy. The ice cube brings down the spice to a more balanced bourbon. Overall - from now on I will note to add a single ice cube to this one. Enjoying it much more than before with more balance. Great 30-40$ bottle. Style points for the label and their staple mark of the red wax40.0 USD per Bottle

Calumet Farm Small Batch Bourbon (Discontinued)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 21, 2020 (edited October 7, 2020)First time trying and enjoying neat. Nose - honey, ethanol, oak, leather, and some vanilla. Taste - starts immediately very sweet with honey to the tongue and a sweet transition into vanilla. Gets complex with some oak, Smokey notes and very light pepper. The finish rounds out bringing some sweet notes back to the palate in a rather short finish with oak and more very light pepper. Overall - really enjoyed this pour. It’s sweet, Smokey and floral would be my best description. The nose is great and the taste is great. Style points for the cool bottle design. -
Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 18, 2020 (edited November 9, 2020)First time trying neat Nose - smells of corn, tobacco, spicy pepper, and some vanilla notes Taste - nice and full on the tongue. Very robust full of spices and pepper. Finishes with spices, pepper and vanilla. I would say this is a spicy bourbon to sum it up. Overall - this bourbon got a lot of hype and for a 50$ bottle that took me a while to find I’m disappointed. It’s not a bad flavor but just too much spice for my liking and not enough balance.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 10, 2020 (edited August 31, 2020)Third time review on a Michters Monday Nose - honey, vanilla, chocolate, very very sweet smelling bourbon. Smells like dessert. Taste - sweetness overload just like the nose suggests. Vanilla and honey begin on the palate. This rounds off into a nice robust leather and pepper taste with a very small burn. Mostly sweet in the taste but nice to have a hint of pepper at the end to help with some balance. Overall - huge fan of the sweet bourbons. This may be too sweet for some but personally I love it. Great bottle under 50$ range.
