George Dickel x Leopold Bros Collaboration Blend (2021 Release)
Rye — USA
Reviewed November 9, 2022 (edited June 6, 2024)Nose is a very pleasant eye … bread notes with a touch of citrus. Not overwhelmingly but certainly not timid either. No trace of ethanol. On the taste, it’s a very muted taste and bit flat on this go around. First sip was not particularly great, but improved on the second and about the same on the third as the second. OVERALL I would say it’s a lot flatter than I would have expected as well as thinner too. I do get some nice warming in the chest which is always a plus. Hopefully, it will open up over time but for the MSRP this is a huge disappointment.109.0 USD per Bottle -
Chattanooga Whiskey Bottled in Bond (Spring 2017 Vintage)
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed November 8, 2022 (edited January 27, 2023)This is a really tough rating. On the plus side, I do get a fair amount of complexity going on in the nose with the different malted barley strains. Additionally the mouth feel and finish is outstanding. I do get some of the chocolate come through and on the finish a bit of cherry and this definitely drinks differently than traditional bourbons. On the side I don’t care for as much, I get an ashy taste that pulls the rating down for me. For the $45, this does deliver a different experience and glad I have it. Will see how it opens up over time. Retried in late Jan …. Still the same. That ashy taste is quit off putting and really hard to get past. Not looking to buy another and the 3 stars I originally rated would likely go down. Just not a fan.45.0 USD per Bottle -
George Dickel 13 Year Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whisky (Spring 2007)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed November 5, 2022 (edited November 14, 2022)This is a solid bourbon. A 13 YO BiB for $40. Give me a break! Beautiful color and the nose is really traditional… none of that Flintstone vitamin you hear about. Taste is definitely fruity as well as the finish. Finish gives a nice hug in the chest. A definite cherry on the back endS. If you have been hesitant to buy a Dickel this bottle is definitely the one you want to take a dive on. First taste in several months on this one and it’s as good as I remember. Easy buy at $4040.0 USD per Bottle -
First taste of this batch was disappointing. Blinded against C921 and though I preferred the nose on A122 which didn’t have any HH nut in it like C921, it wasn’t head and shoulders better….C921 is still really good nose. Where this batch really fell down for me is it drank HOT. C921 never drinks hot. C921 is same proof and doesn’t let it’s proof come through. A122 let all of that proof come in. Finish was OK. Will definitely be having another review but gotta say this first one was a let down.70.0 USD per Bottle

Bardstown Bourbon Co. Fusion Series #7
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 3, 2022 (edited November 22, 2022)Enjoyable nose. Classic bourbon vanilla caramel. Taste really follows the nose. A bit thin on mouth feel and finish, but this is definitely a very mellow bourbon and not heavy … very approachable.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Very strong fruit profile on the taste which is a bit of a surprise as I didn’t get that on the nose….as nose was pretty light so need to revisit that. Finish is medium and a nice warming feel with a bit of spice on the end. Best part of the profile is finish … higher proof, but don’t get any real ethanol. Pretty enjoyable.50.0 USD per Bottle

Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 31, 2022 (edited November 1, 2022)Better than last taste. Very faint on the nose and the taste is somewhat traditional but doesn’t follow the nose too much. Finish is on the shortish side but nothing really to offend. $35 bourbon. Don’t overpay60.0 USD per Bottle -
Peerless Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 31, 2022 (edited November 1, 2022)Best tasting “young” bourbon the market. I get a very sweet honey note from nose to finish. It is a steep price point, but I’ve seen it quite reasonable at $65 which I am OK at compared to other bottles at that price and the sweet mash process they use. I do get a nice cherry note on the finish … not medicinal, but a marichino style. I really like it.65.0 USD per Bottle -
Maker's Mark Cask Strength Batch 21-03 (109.4 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed October 31, 2022This is a tremendously good value for the money. Very soft grain notes on the nose mixed with sweet traditional notes that eases just as softly into the palate. Even at 110 proof this drinks with a nice front of palate tingle. The finish is the weakest part of the profile. Short to medium with a slight bit of bitterness , but not overwhelmingly so. This should be in your stable.40.0 USD per Bottle
