Balvenie The Sweet Toast of American Oak 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, ScotlandReviewed March 27, 2023Funny enough this variation drinks more like a peated bourbon. It’s an excellent entry for someone who wants to venture into the scotch whisk(e)y world! You get those classic notes of sweet oak, vanilla, and caramel! But you also get strong notes of prunes and milke chocolate covered raisins. The finish is totally scotch…There is a sea salt and seaweed presence that hard to dismiss.
Knob Creek Small Batch Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USAReviewed March 27, 2023Not my favorite rye. But could be a great mixer! The black pepper is prominent. I do get some spearmint! I will say the finish is not bad at all. There’s a slight licorice pressense as well as some herbs and oak.
Very Old Barton 80 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed March 27, 2023There are moments when an 80 proof bourbon is exactly what you need! This is borbon (caramel, vanilla, and some light brown sugar. Nothing complex and nothing that commands your attention!
Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed March 18, 2023This is such an interesting bottle!! There is that Heaven Hill nuttiness (toasted almonds) upfront, but on the mid-palate I get huge coconut cream pie and slight milk chocolate vibes. The finish is super refreshing…It surprisingly has this cold menthol/herbal presence. *Definitely has slight hints of cloce and cinnamon* Let’s just call this the Almond Joy of bourbons!
Evan Williams Masters Blend
Bourbon — Kentucky , USAReviewed March 10, 2023Im going to keep this simple! This is probably one of the most ‘smooth’ bourbons my palate has had in a long time! Im not a fan of the smooth description, but this is a bourbon I could sip on all day long. It is balanced and complex all the same!
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2022-04 "Pinkie's Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed March 9, 2023In so many ways this is your standard Booker’s offering.. Full of peanuts and baking spices. But… The end of the palate is so good! It keeps me coming back! I get fall weather walnut caramel apples on stick with the finish! So sweet and the flavors linger!!!
Kentucky Owl Confiscated Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed March 8, 2023Kentucky Owl! I was surprised by how different of a profile this bottle had. I first noticed while the mouthfeel was very young and thin, the flavor boast with lot of butterscotch and candied toffee. The mid-palate was floral and had faint hints of lemon citrus. The finish was short and underwhelming, but I did find notes of baking spcies.
Widow Jane 10 Year Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — USAReviewed March 8, 2023I was personally expecting a bit more from this bottle. Although, I will say the quenessential bourbon notes are widely pronounced throughout the sipping experience. Notes of corn, caramel, sweet vanilla, and oak char are fully represented. Truly a classic and balanced bourbon.
George Dickel 13 Year Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whisky (Spring 2007)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USAReviewed March 7, 2023Once again Tennessee whisky shines. *Some people love Dickel and others not so much* The mouthfeel allows for flavors to truly stick to the palate. Im getting loads of brown sugar and sweet granola up front. The mid-palate has hints of leather and rich tobacco which I appreciate! On the finish im getting a lot of oak char, deep tannins, and that charcoal-Lincoln County process is fully represented. On of my favorite Tennessee offerings.
The Clover 10 Year Single Barrel Tennessee Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee , USAReviewed February 27, 2023Crazy enough but Tennessee whiskey just hits different! The leather! The charcoal! The sweet vanilla! A bit wildflower honey! Just a lovely easy sipper!
