Tastes

Nose: loads of good things! Peat, zest, vanilla, peach, bonfire, pear, green apple, wood smoke, white pepper, very little iodine. Taste: exceptionally smooth for its strength! Sweet, peaty, sourish, white chocolate, pastry. Very gentle when diluted: becomes more woody, grassy. Finish: fiery and peaty! Leaves you craving for more. Overall: jokes aside, one of the best drams I've ever had. They claim "The most richly flavoured of all Scotch whiskies" - I say, one of the most. And, at the same time, exceptionally well-balanced.

Nose: vanilla, oakwood, creme brulee, maple syrup, caramel, nutmeg, cinnamon, raisins. Taste: sweet-sour, fiery, coffeish. Finish: warming to fiery, strong, nice slight bitterness. Overall: a damn decent bourbon!

Nose: light, vanilla, heather, honey, lime tree, clover. Taste: bittersweet, gentle, fruity. Finish: pear, prune, surprisingly long! Overall: much more than I expected from this dram!

Nose: big, but gentle peat, bonfire, pine smoke, smoked bacon, heating oil, burning leaves, seaweed. Taste: peaty, salty, mineral, oily, sweet in the development. Finish: impressively long, warm, peaty and smokey.

Nose: fruity, pear, peach, vanilla, cinnamon, honey, melon, grapes. Taste: sweet, brown sugar, oaky, nutty. Finish: warm, bitterish, medium. Overall: a nice relaxing speysider with some complexity.

Nose: orange zest, vanilla, hazelnut, raisins, clove, cinnamon. Taste: warm, sweet, soft, candied fruit, dark honey, slight zest bitterness. Finish: warm, tingling, sage-y. Overall: a damn fine dram if you're on a budget.

Nose: vanilla, citrus zest, mineral tones, aniseed, lime tree, herbs, honey. Taste: dry, mineral, bittersweet, very balanced. Finish: rounded, full-bodied, warm, bitterish. Overall: a very decent and tasty dram

Nose: dry pine and juniper smoke, vanilla, lemon zest, blackcurrant, mint. Taste: sour, malty, bittersweet, white bread. Finish: warm, tingling, but short. Overall: an interesting, nice and entertaining dram.

Nose: aniseed, green apple, mint, nutty, vanilla, honey, grass. Taste: sweet, some dried fruits, chocolate, light bitterness. Finish: traditional and short. Overall: more of a package than a whisky.
