Heaven Hill Bottled In Bond 7 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited December 11, 2023)Full flavor profile, traditional caramel, cinnamon, honey, marshmellow, vanilla with peppery spice; heavy oak notes; similar profile to Buffalo Trace but heavier, creamy. Very serviceable and drinkable but lacks meaningdul depth. Reasonable bottle to pick up at $45-50 price point. -
This single barrel was from cask #454, only 280 bottles sourced. A sourced whiskey from undisclosed Tennessee distillery and bottled in Texas. Light color in appearance; sweet, floral nose; light, floral with touch of fruit and honey on palate; nothing special to me on chew; unimpressive tanginess on finish that contrasts with lighter, sweeter, smoother palate; not terrible, it can be enjoyed, but overall I cant get excited about.55.0 USD per Bottle

Redwood Empire Grizzly Beast Bottled in Bond Bourbon (Spring 2018 Vintage)
Bourbon — California, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited May 25, 2024)Alot to explore here and dive into. Reviewed well by several tasters at recent casual friend's tasting. Reminds me of an Old Forester mash, and in fact I intend to do a comparison tasting in the future. This is an interesting crafted bourbon, and a plus for bottled in bond. Smooth, consistent, some syrup throughout the tasting experience. Dark cherry is what is prevalent with some other fruits and tanginess that I have difficulty picking out on first tasting. This is a 5-grain bourbon, and the 2018 batch has a different mash than the 2017 4-grain mash. A light, syrupy chew. For a 5-year, this is smooth and consistent throughout, and as expected missing wood oak notes. With some aging years added in the future, I really look forward to what this Northern California distillery offers in the future to grow on this 5-year tasting experience. I's like to see this more in the $60-70 range.80.0 USD per Bottle -
Daily drinker and great bargain that can always be found on store shelves; overall a heavy fruit (orange, citrus, cherry) bomb tingling the palate with flavors that linger for awhile; very subtle hints of barrel oak; quick explosion of sweetness, some oak and pepper on presentation; caramel, vanilla, cinnamon and sweet nose with some fruitiness present; very rich finish with peppery oak and still lingering citrus. Alot to ponder and explore.

Baker's Single Barrel Bourbon 7 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited December 12, 2023)Nutty, oak and vanilla; sweet, fruity nose with hints of vanilla; wood and oak and spice come to the forefront immediately with orange citrus hints that follow on finish; tannins come out on chew with some tangs after initial smoothness; spicy pop on finish; 107 proof is not readily apparent and alcohol does not take over tasting experiennce nor appears on nose. -
Citrus heavy profile but not sweet; initial caramel, corn palate then quickly taken over by oak and peppery spice; wood oak and pepper spice chew, but not overpowering oak for a 10 year. Hints of vanilla and caramel corn with peppery spice that lingers on tongue. Worth price point if found for MSRP or slightly above.
