KO distilling bottled in bond distiller's reserve
Bourbon — Manassas VA, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023Some caramel, butterscotch and fruit on nose; heavy tannins and oak on palate but not overpowering; slight hint of caramel, tart with tanginess; peppery spice with wood oak and some wheat on finish. Not worth $70 MSRP. -
Maker's Mark 46 French Oaked Cask Strength
Bourbon — Loretto, Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited February 16, 2024)Some wood oak and spice; no fruit notes; bolder and more complex than traditional Maker's Mark; higher proof burns on finish; attacks tongue sharply; hints of orange, chocolate on finish; nose has cinnamon, honey, caramel. -
Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited December 11, 2023)Smooth, well bodied experience. Seems to get better with air and chewing; mellow, oak notes consistent from palate to finish; very little pepper and spice or tannins; some sweet caramel on finish; very easy and smooth sipper with well rounded fullness. Bourbon beginners will love it but I enjoy it as I return to it for a pour too. -
Aggressive citrus and spice; sharp, concentrated taste with some sweetness; high proof very apparent, this is hot. Spice lingers on tongue for some time even after the finish; flavor profile rapidly changes on palate and then finishes with hot swallow; not much barrel oak here. This bottle sits on my daily everyday shelf.

Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2023 BEP
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited February 20, 2024)Brown sugar, spicy cinnamon and caramel well balances with oak throughout; delicious palate full of flavorful depth; missing tannins and oaky chew; maybe not entirely complex, but medley of baking dessert flavors makes delightful; palate stronger than the finish which is spice prevalent. -
Barrell Bourbon Batch 032
Bourbon — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited March 6, 2024)One of my favorites on shelf; high proof very apparent up front but doesn't overwhelm rich profile; creamy and tropical profile; layers of spice and nuttiness; consistently solid through tasting experience; intense and interesting fruit flavors. Blend of straight bourbons of 5, 6, 7, 10 years blended over 3 months.
