Aggressive citrus and spice; sharp, concentrated taste with some sweetness; high proof very apparent, this is hot. Spice lingers on tongue for some time even after the finish; flavor profile rapidly changes on palate and then finishes with hot swallow; not much barrel oak here. This bottle sits on my daily everyday shelf.

Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2023 BEP
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited February 20, 2024)Brown sugar, spicy cinnamon and caramel well balances with oak throughout; delicious palate full of flavorful depth; missing tannins and oaky chew; maybe not entirely complex, but medley of baking dessert flavors makes delightful; palate stronger than the finish which is spice prevalent. -
Barrell Bourbon Batch 032
Bourbon — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited March 6, 2024)One of my favorites on shelf; high proof very apparent up front but doesn't overwhelm rich profile; creamy and tropical profile; layers of spice and nuttiness; consistently solid through tasting experience; intense and interesting fruit flavors. Blend of straight bourbons of 5, 6, 7, 10 years blended over 3 months. -

Litchfield Cask Strength Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Connecticut , USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023Heavy wood char and smoke but smooth; missing traditional sweet caramels, vanilla and cinnamon notes; high proof lingers on tongue even after finish; rich, fruity nose with high proof very apparent; oak tastes with corn and wood chew; sharp tart and spice palate; complexity missing, very hot finish; comes right at you immediately with spicey wood alcohol pop. Not worth a higher price point unless looking to experience a smaller Connecticut maker. -
Sweet, light nose with floral and citrus scents; hints of apricot on palate; earthy flavors; more intensity than depth; slight wood oak and smokey chew and finish; finish brings orange, Dr. Pepper with hefty spice bomb. All Missouri bourbon which makes it unique, and also a bottled in bond which is a plus. Worth investment if you can find in $30-40 range, no more.
