Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited November 22, 2023)One of my favorites on shelf; Orange, dark cherry and oak with healthy spice; touch of creamy syrup; big satisfying flavor profile; pepper snd allspice pop on finish. Great if you can find for $50-55 or so. -
Litchfield Cask Strength Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Connecticut , USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023Heavy wood char and smoke but smooth; missing traditional sweet caramels, vanilla and cinnamon notes; high proof lingers on tongue even after finish; rich, fruity nose with high proof very apparent; oak tastes with corn and wood chew; sharp tart and spice palate; complexity missing, very hot finish; comes right at you immediately with spicey wood alcohol pop. Not worth a higher price point unless looking to experience a smaller Connecticut maker. -
Sweet, light nose with floral and citrus scents; hints of apricot on palate; earthy flavors; more intensity than depth; slight wood oak and smokey chew and finish; finish brings orange, Dr. Pepper with hefty spice bomb. All Missouri bourbon which makes it unique, and also a bottled in bond which is a plus. Worth investment if you can find in $30-40 range, no more.

Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited November 29, 2024)Excellent value for a $30 1 liter, bottled in bond bottle of Kentucky bourbon; warm, smooth, light syrup and spice; mellow experience; cherry, spice pop on finish; oak hints on chew with some tannins; cherry and spice linger on tongue. -
Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023For an $18 bottle it is worth it; honey, caramel sweetness on introduction to palate followed by a wave of spice; some oak notes and grains with subtle smoke on finish; a smooth sipper but mixing complexity of flavors. -
Baking spices with fruity notes climb over palate from intro to finish; satisfying spice bomb on finish; noticeable wood oak chew with tannins, spice, tobacco and smokiness; hint of tawny port wine; many different flavors dancing around which makes it both fun and difficult to identify. Overall an unique experience. The process for this bourbon is very interesting and unique, worth reading about.65.0 USD per Bottle

Elijah Craig 18 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2023 (edited February 20, 2024)The experience for the price tag is just not there for me. Not anything special for the price point. Not bad at all, just underwhelming. Deep oak complexity, very smooth; low proof brings underwhelming entry to palate, but oak and subtle spice quickly come to forefront; some honey up front; oak tannin chew with leather notes, little floral or fruit, missing sweeter caramel, vanilla and cinnamon. Finishes smooth and satisfying. Subsequent follow on experiences leaves me more interested. However, for the price point not worth the investment, but definitely worth a pour at a tasting or offered elsewhere. -
Caramel nose with citrus fruit notes; tobacco and sharp pepper spice on palate; hints of cinnamon and peppermint; orange tang in finish; caramel, oak tannins, cherry come out on second tasting; finishes with oak and tobacco and spice; good flavor profile mix but younger age shows; an introduction to complexity but just not there yet; overall enjoyable sip.
