Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Batch Proof 121.2
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 25, 2024Hot as expected all the way through. Some hidden layers of wood oak and sweetness but the heat masks much if it. I am interested to compare in a blinded line up of cask strengths though. Not sure this is worth the MSRP price point on first pour.150.0 USD per BottleVirginia ABC -
Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A124
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 20, 2024 (edited December 20, 2024)Tropical, cherry, floral, honey nose. Light, tropical fruits, cherry and peppermint that evolves into a heavier, oaky dry chew. Finishes with more of same with some apricot, citrus and slight bit of pear. Not as hot as expected for 124.2 proof. Batch A124. This one leaves me wanting to discover more on subsequent pours.70.0 USD per Bottle -
Strong ethanol nose. Heavy, wheat dominant juice. Black licorice is prevalent with earthy, grassy substance. Very subtle hints of honey and perhaps some citrus and vanilla on introduction. One review mentioned a Scotch like resemblance - I agree. Perhaps it is the 4-grain mash that makes it diverge from traditional bourbon. Batch B-23.72.0 USD per Bottle

Bardstown Bourbon Co. Discovery Series #11
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 8, 2024 (edited December 20, 2024)Cherry, wheat mash dominant. Slightly flat at first intro but quickly materializes in fizzy cherry wholesomeness. Some oak barrel present in presentation and chew. The heat is disguised by a strong flavor profile. Finish is sparkling cherry and not as hot as expected for 118 proof. Some butterscotch picked up in subsequent pours. Not sure this is worth a $130 bottle investment at MSRP but if you can try it at a bar or tasting enjoy! -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A124
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 7, 2024 (edited February 28, 2024)Starts smooth and sweet and then immediately pops with crisp, dancing sensations of traditional bourbon flavors. Not heavy on oak but I was aware it was there striking a good balance with traditional bourbon flavors and baking spices. As expected, finishes hot. Very good pour and probably my favorite barrel proof I've tried after Stagg. I found it at MSRP so all the better.
