Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Wheated Bourbon Chinquapin Oak (2025 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 1, 2026Full of ceral and jammy fruits. Almost malt like. Raspberry, apricots, and boisenberry. Tannins and woody qualities seal the deal. The jammy fruits are prominent and remain throughout, making for a nice sweet yet spicy sipper. -
Barrell Craft Spirits Gray Label Whiskey 24 Year (2021 Release)
Canadian — (bottled in) Kentucky, Canada
Reviewed March 1, 2026Very light for its high ABV. Its like drinking a cup of early grey tea with honey up front. This is balanced nicely by its spicy jalapeno popper quality. Its calm and sweet like tea up front, spicy and creamy in the middle and has a nice acetone burn on the finish. Its not overly complex but its flavor throughout is satisfying. -
This one brings all the notes. Herbacious, earthy, and fungal hit the tongue immediately. Funky garlic, green pepper, and mixed greens come to mind. Cinnamon, clove, and tannis are underneath it all. There's some sweetness but its layered more so in its spicy quality. Sassafras, vanilla and spicy cinnamon linger endlessly. Incredible.

WhistlePig The Boss Hog XII: Feather & Flame
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Vermont), USA
Reviewed February 28, 2026 (edited March 26, 2026)An interesting bottle. Cacao is prominent in every sense. A very dry/semi sweet cacao. There is a tingling on the tongue reminiscent of cinnamon sticks and carbinated rootbeer, with cacao remaining a factor. Parts of it remind me of a dry Hershey's crunch bar, but its not oversweet. There is an absolute sweetness to this bottle but its tempered nicely by its dry/oily traits. Underneath there are flavors of honey, vanilla and tannins. The mouth feel is dry and leaves an oily coating. Sassafras and licorice linger on for some time while that oiliness remains throughout. Very satisfying.450.0 USD per Bottle -
Penelope Single Barrel 10 Year Bourbon (2024 Estate Collection)
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed February 15, 2026 (edited February 16, 2026)Oak tannins, root beer and prominent grape soda start the show off. Cinnamon and herbal grassy notes settle in therafter. Finish is fairly long and lingers with a funky herbal undertone with grape soda still lingering. Nice throat burn that lasts a while. Very solid for the price point.109.0 USD per Bottle -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 13
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed February 14, 2023 (edited March 1, 2026)Heavy tannins and full vanilla notes kick things off. Followed closely by cinnamon sticks, licorice and cherry cola (prominent cherry). Kicks you in the mouth but mellows out beautifully. Rounds out with a molasses tail, more subtle notes of tannins/baking spices, and a savory buttered popcorn undertone. Pretty much exactly what I’m looking for in a good bourbon. -
Calumet Farm 15 Year Single Rack Black Bourbon (Whirlaway)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 19, 2022 (edited March 1, 2025)Starts earthy and tart with natural cherries and grass. Transitions sweet into maraschino cherries, whipped cream and vanilla. Ends dry with oak, leather and cedar. Undertone of cinnamon throughout which gives the palate a tingle. Elegant and smooth from start to finish. Really good stuff. One of my new go to’s.130.0 USD per Bottle
