Ron Zacapa 23 Sistema Solera Rum
Aged Rum — Guatemala
Reviewed July 1, 2017 (edited October 2, 2017)Love this rum. It's the first rum I have ever enjoyed neat. The sweetness is heavily caramelized with underlying spice. The flavors are bold and the heat is just warm enough to keep everything interesting. -
Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 1, 2017 (edited July 8, 2017)This is a tough one to rate; I fall right between a three and a four. It is a good drink, and has plenty of depth, but lacks personality here. It tries to make everyone happy with tasting notes across the board. As a result, it is a flavorful, but forgetful dram. -
Absolutely complex and delicious. Heavy peat, so not for the faint of heart. This is second for me only to Lagavulin 16. The peat here is not as well balanced with the fruit and sweet notes, but there is a great seashore invocation with salt and brine appearing through the oily texture. Great winter drinking!

Glenlivet Nàdurra 16 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed July 1, 2017 (edited July 17, 2017)Sweet sherry, dry honey arrival, then honey takes over with grassy notes appearing at the finish. The final note is a bit harsh and sharp. Be sure to be liberal with water for this strong whisky to enjoy the most out of it.
