1792 Full Proof Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 20, 2017 (edited December 15, 2017)Old oak color. The classic vanilla, brown sugar, and caramel nose. Really smells sweet initially, but then you pick up sour apples, leather and ginger. Taste: comes in initially really hot and spicy. then I pick up leather and tobacco. Not surprisingly it has a bitter finish, but not an enjoyable. overall a solid Barrel strength whiskey, even if it isn't the best one I've had. -
Hancock's President's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 22, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)russet or Muscat color. super big honey notes as well as the classic vanilla and brown sugar on the nose. initial flavor on the tongue is oil followed by spice. A little water didn't help in fact it made it less interesting. It's about the same price as Stagg jr. but not nearly as good -
George Dickel Barrel Select

Reviewed October 20, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)Light mahogany color. Flowery nose reminds me of carnations. floral notes dominate the pallet for me. it's almost like I'm drinking a rye. -
Clyde May's 8 Year Cask Strength Alabama-Style Whiskey

Sherry flavors pop on the tongue. absolutely feel the oiliness and astringency that the reviewer found. Medium dried apples finish . Overall not as much fun as the nine year -
Knob Creek 9 Year Single Barrel Reserve
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 18, 2017 (edited January 3, 2018)Brown sherry color. Nose is brown sugar, cherries , maple, vanilla and Madeira. The taste is leathery, woody and peppery. Medium finish. I tried barrel 4747. Overall, it lacks complexity which is why I end up buying Booker's when I want good Beam. -
Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Brandy Cask Finish
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 8, 2017Tawny color. Floral notes like perfume, fabric softener, then moving on to fruit, but not the raisins I was expecting, but rather solvent like paint. The taste is very winey, Chardonnay comes to mind. Then we're back to paint notes with a salty finish. Overall, delicious, but then I'm a big Islay fan. -
Belle Meade Cask Strength Single Barrel Bourbon 9 Year
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Tennessee), USA
Reviewed October 7, 2017Bright reddish brown color. Rich chocolate and sweet leather nose. Some real nice complexity on the nose. Taste of dried fruit initially, then sour cherries. Once again, I feel like I'm dealing with a very complex whiskey that will get more interesting over time. This is definitely wonderful. I sampled batch 2D bottle 298. -
Deep redwood color. Nose of burnt brown sugar, pepper and chocolate. Honey, heavy spice and wood on the tongue. A leathery finish, longer than I expected it to be. it's fun to drink a style of whiskey made at the beginning of prohibition , even though I suspect it's much much better than the whiskey sold at the time. Definitely something fun to share with friends at a party. I give it 3.5 stars.
