The short squat bottle with small mouth is a tribute to Industrial design . Shiny copper color. Good legs but doesn't show a lot of age. Initial note on the nose is chocolate, then burnt chocolate, followed by dried apricot & raisins. definitely benefits from a little water, much more than other cask strength whiskeys I've had. Big notes salt and brine on the tongue. overall I would take the Nikka Coffey over this. I'll be resampling this over the next few days to see the benefits from a little oxidation.

Bronzie straw color. Pretty good legs, indicating some age. Hard pressed to pick up anything on the nose, except maybe a turpentine note. Nice balance on the tongue, relative to other table whiskies like Canadian Club. I pick-up some oak,.Very short but not unpleasant finish. Glad I didn't pay for it....

Clyde May's 9 Year Cask Strength Alabama-Style Whiskey
Flavored Whiskey — USA
Reviewed August 14, 2017 (edited December 30, 2017)I couldn't believe that a 9 year old cask strength whiskey could be rated so poorly, so I decided to try it myself: It's a brownish color, no real legs. First thing I pick up on the nose is vanilla, then the notes of dried apple as would be expected, then the chocolate comes through. I did note a touch of vinegar, which could explain the negative score. Very rich and smooth on the tongue. I pick up the apples and the cinnamon. great long finish. Overall, this is a very good whiskey and would certainly buy it again. I think the reviewer should give it another shot. -
Bunnahabhain Ceòbanach
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed August 5, 2017 (edited October 14, 2017)Super light straw color. Syrupy legs. Balanced peat nose, moving on to apples and chocolate. I'm instantly hit by a strong but well-balanced peat on the tongue, then wood. Briny, salty, bitter finish. Definitely benefits from a splash of water. Brings out some sweetness and smokiness. -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 27, 2017 (edited July 29, 2018)Beautiful polished mahogany color. Lovely brown sugar nose off the top followed by a lovely fresh paint smell, followed by the classic caramel and vanilla notes and then wet leather. Super oily on the tongue followed by wonderful licorice , finishing off with chocolate. Definitely on my top shelf list.62.99 USD per Bottle -
Nice straw color. Fairly good legs. Initial honey notes on the nose, then the rye bread and leather notes, dried fruit maybe raisins. you can't really benefit from the flavors of the whiskey without water. tons of spice sour apples on the palate. medium finish. At the end of the day, I think Crown Royal's Hand Barrel Select and certainly WhistlePig are better choices.

Booker's Bourbon Batch 2017-02 "Blue Knights Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 29, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)I'm a huge Booker's fan. I may have gotten a bad bottle. Sadly, it has a very musty nose and musty palette. I can tell the greatness of the flavors behind those problems.
