Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Tennessee), USA
Reviewed March 6, 2021 (edited April 13, 2021)This is batch 19-22, coming in at 113.6 proof. The nose is smooth, with a balanced of mild oak, vanilla, molasses, baking spices and a touch of butterscotch. The palate is just as smooth with creamy oak and baking spices riding a wave along with a slightly perfumey rye spiciness. A bit of citrus comes out along with the sweeter notes of vanilla, molasses and butterscotch, but a little nondescript. The finish is medium with the palate melding together, asking for something to stand out. -
The nose greets you with a burst of spice followed an earthy rye that has a slight floral element. Sweet vanilla follows balancing hints of ripe fruit, molasses and caramel. The palate is pleasantly rich and chewy and reaches the corners of the mouth with rye spiciness carrying over the earthy yet floral notes. Creamy follows, riding the wave of spice into a sadly only medium finish that keeps the mouth tingling with spice. There is a rye aftertaste with the creamier notes having faded early on.

The color is amber, somewhat deep and glowing. The oils are slight but heavy, immediately leaving the glass streaked. The nose immediately starts with floral rye, fresh fruit and bubble gum. It opens up and gives hints of vanilla, oak and caramel, but remains dominantly sweet on the nose. The palate is dry yet slightly chewy, filling the mouth with black pepper, floral rye spiciness with the fruit and bubble gum falling more towards the back. Creamier notes of vanilla and caramel are there, intermingling with the sweeter notes providing a nice balance. The finish is medium long with a lingering spiciness and chewiness, with the mouth full of the sweeter and floral notes while the creaminess fades earlier on.50.0 USD per Bottle

Wild Turkey 101 8 Year (New York, 1965)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed December 22, 2020 (edited December 31, 2023)The color is dark, a very deep, reddish gold that leaves a heavy rim of oil around the glass. The nose is full of oak backed up by vanilla, a touch of molasses, caramel and the least bit of cherry. The palate is rich and offers generous creamy oak with a nice burst of rye spiciness. It is very simple and doesn’t quite reach the corners of the mouth, but what it does do is incredible. The finish is medium and leaves the mouth full of oak with a tingling spiciness leaving behind an earthy rye. -
The color is a medium amber with legs that need to be somewhat coaxed out. The nose has a candy sweetness that also hits you with sharp bit spice at first. Oak, vanilla, ripe fruit and a bit of brown sugar bring it all together. The palate is chewy and works it’s way to the corners of the mouth with a wave of baking spice on top of a layer of ripe fruit. The oak and vanilla follow for a relatively simple experience. The finish is medium long with a lingering spice that now feels more peppery than anything. Creamy oak fades while you still feel like chewing on the whiskey some more.

This barrel is roughly 7.5 years old and is a goldish amber and offers plenty of legs with each movement. The nose is easy going with oak, vanilla, rye spice and a bit of butterscotch. The palate is equally as gentle and starts off grain forward before moving onto oak, rye spice, cooked brown sugar and hints of vanilla and butterscotch. It just about reaches the corners of the mouth and none the less is somewhat chewy and rich. The finish is medium long with lingering grain notes and spice while the rest of the palate fades.

Laphroaig 16 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 11, 2020 (edited November 7, 2021)The color is a very light gold that leaves a thin curtain of oils around the glass. On the nose, iodine is there but the added age helps to tame it. It shares the nose with brine, backed up by oak, vanilla and straw and barely sugar. The palate hits the corners of the mouth with iodine, straw, some honey and brine. Oak and vanilla follow it up in small amounts for a nicely balanced whisky. The finish is medium with a lingering spiciness from iodine as the creamier notes fade in a nice balance.
