Ok yes u all know I love me some rye. And I love the spicy and dry finish of this dram. There is just a hint of sweet and great anise hiding under the dry sand that is the base of this drink. I love it. But hold the phone. Wow is it hot! I have tried ice water and blowing on it and the heat is up front in the middle and on the back side. Now I am a manly man and I can take it but whoa nelly if the fire was tamed a tad bit this would be a 5 star. As it is

Clyde May's Alabama Style Whiskey (85 Proof)
Flavored Whiskey — USA
Reviewed September 3, 2016 (edited November 23, 2016)Just tried this. And I was not expecting much to be honest. I have tried, and like the Clyde Mays 101.. jot bit ,hot but good. So I open this cool looking bottle. Picture of Clyde Mayes leaning against Clyde 240.... open and let it air for a minute. Pour the dram, and it is as dark as molasses. I'm thinking ok this is going to be way too sweet. At 92proof I put some filter water in it and let it sit for about 7 min. Nose told me a complete lie to my tongue... I had whiffs of vanilla [duh] and some but not much sugar.. So I take my sip expecting vinillia and brown sugar-here in is the lie. I taste none of these instead my mouth exploded with joyful taste of spice and nutmeg.. the finish was so dry it was like drinking a dry red wine. The spice remixed reminded me of High WEST rye. OMG I love me some rye and I love this drink. There is a molasses stickiness to the mouth feel but it disappears before it wears out it's welcome. I paid 38.00 for this and man I'm going to get another. Old fashion lovers will just adore this. Give it a try -
Compass Box Orangerie
Flavored Whiskey — Scotland
Reviewed August 10, 2016 (edited December 21, 2017)My word there are some strong haters on this....yes the orange is heavy..it's on the label for God's sake. The taste is huge orange bitter at first but it passes almost instantly. Giving way to the lovely clove. This is not meant to be anything other than what it is a niche product not intended for whole consumption. You need take this almost as an aperitif. Don't let some one tell you what to drink try it an see if you like it. I do but there in again I LOVE rye whisky and I love the spice in this......matter of fact I'm going to pour myself a little right now. -

Reviewed August 8, 2016 (edited January 2, 2017)Great rye. But too damn expensive for what it is. $30 more than the excellent burbon? No w a y. If it were closer to it it would be 93/100 as is can't justify the price. -
