El Tesoro 85th Anniversary Extra Añejo Tequila
Tequila Extra Añejo — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed July 29, 2023 (edited July 30, 2023)Balanced nose featuring caramel, cinnamon, a little agave. Medium body, caramel notes without the agave being overwhelmed. The bourbon definitely makes itself known despite barely qualifying as an XA. Reminds me a little of 7L D'Antano, which is like half the price. It's decent stuff, but let's be real, I feel sorry for anybody who pays the $500+ RRP for a bottle of this.65.0 USD per Pour -
Glenlivet 18 Year Batch Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed July 29, 2023 (edited September 26, 2023)Aroma offers some butterscotch and a hint of strawberry. On the palate there's some oak, vanilla, cream. Light bodied, with a little bitterness on the finish. Like most Glenlivets I've had, it's a little unremarkable but not bad. The nose is the best part. -
First impression from the nose is the essence of an old dusty stone room. As it airs, some sweeter, fruitier aromas appear. The palate is only slightly sweet, vegetal, with some vanilla, tropical fruit, and melon up front; and a long finish with some smoke, spice, and a hint of wet grass. Overall, it has a distinct character, but probably not something I'll seek out.

Sacred Stave American Single Malt Whiskey
American Single Malt — Arizona, USA
Reviewed July 20, 2023Clean, fruity nose. Light mouthfeel, bread, slight bitterness. Some ethanol on the finish, which is the weakest aspect. Better than I was expecting. -
The Single Malts of Scotland Ben Nevis 9
Single Malt — Scotland
Reviewed July 15, 2023 (edited July 16, 2023)On the nose I get honey, apple blossom, syrup, and a little ethanol. Super floral, with a nice oily mouthfeel, a little caramel, and a slightly herbal finish (maybe some black tea) with some toffee and ethanol burn. A little bit of water opens it up nicely. I was pretty impressed with this considering the age statement, it does a good job showcasing the distillate. Probably one of the better malts I've had with a sub-10 age statement.90.0 USD per Bottle -
Last in the lineup - funky nose with a hint of cheese. Slightly earthy palate, some cheese, vegetal. Bit of ethanol on the finish. A little water brings out the agave and rounds it out a little. This seems to straddle the line between tequila and raicilla. Probably the most interesting Blanco I've had.

Siembra Valles Blanco Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed July 11, 2023Lots of mineral on the nose and palate. Dry, granite (or maybe feldspar), orange pith. Tastes like sucking on a rock in the best possible way.
