This is a lovely coconut custard pie, light and bright and not at all cloying. Nose - big coconut and vanilla right off the bat, some light citrus zest and a bit of oak spice Taste - the toasted coconut really comes through and it’s delightful, followed by a light vanilla custard, an undertone of subtle baking spices, very bright over all Finish - like a coconut custard pie that’s very light but lingering, very mellow heat

Very friendly and approachable, like a really sweet and floral Speyside. Nose - floral with vanilla, lemon, apple, and a tiny hint of barrel spice Taste - sweet vanilla cream, with a bit of lemon zest and some rose water Finish - the spice finally comes to the surface, mixed with a dry sweetness, lingers for awhile considering how light the whiskey is.

A delicious and affordable classic speyside. Light and fruity but with enough complexity to be interesting. Nose - appel, vanilla, floral notes and malty overtones Taste - like caramel apple and vanilla ice cream, with orange peel and floral notes Finish - light and sweet, oily and lingering, a bit of heat going down

Stranahan's Sherry Cask
American Single Malt — Colorado, USA
Reviewed March 19, 2020 (edited April 15, 2024)Nose - dried fruit and nuts, with a hint of chocolate, spice in the background as well Taste - like liquid fruit cake, the nuttiness and tangy dried fruits leap out, very light barrel slices as well Finish - light and fading, slightly dry, and a bit of spice remains on the tongue. -
This rye smells amazing but taster too much like wine to me. Nose - I get plums and brown sugar right away, then a sour mustiness comes though. Way in the background a get a touch of rye spice. Taste - Big brown sugar sweetness mixed with some rye spice on the first sip. The port and sour notes round things out. Finish - The sour port flavors linger for awhile, with a touch if rye spice. Probably my least favorite part of the experience.

Very smokey and in your face but also delightfully complex. Nose - pure smoke and damp ash up front, some iodine and brine, with chocolate notes and raisin as well. Taste - the smoke hits you first, big and bold but rapidly tapers off leaving behind salty chocolate and dark fruit. Finish - really pleasant with some noticeable burn, the smoke takes a back seat here, it’s more of a dark sugar sweetness that lingers for awhile.
