Inchmurrin 1998 21 Year (Deer, Bear & Moose)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 6, 2020 (edited April 8, 2020)By far the most exclusive and unique whisky I own. After trying it, my spouse wasn’t even mad at how expensive it was. Very approachable and round, would be a general crowd pleaser but I won’t be sharing it too often. Nose - light and sweet, melted chocolate, almonds and roasted nuts, a bit of fresh berries and a hint of scotch muskiness Taste - sweet fruit forward, with some soft almond flavors, a bit of milk chocolate, and some light bitterness Finish - the oily sweetness lingers followed by a bit of spice and a comforting burn -
Nose - mustiness is most noticeable but then floral sweetness, buttery caramel, and citrus peel Taste - apple, vanilla, caramel, and flowers, with some very slight sour notes and bit of lemon zest and a hint of spice Finish - light and sweet, the floral notes come back, some spice shows up at the end and lingers for a bit, very mild heat

A really complex and tasty bourbon. It’s dramatically different than most bourbon profiles and it’s a really interesting twist. Nose - orange peel, black tea, honey, and black pepper, and a bit of rye and baking spices Taste - spicy orange at first, with some soft honey sweetness, a bit of black tea adds complexity Finish - the honey fades quickly and the rye spice lingers, there’s enough heat to get your attention

Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 3, 2020 (edited May 23, 2020)Really light and approachable, not overly complex but a tasty everyday sipper Nose - vanilla, caramel, citrus, dried apricot, a bit of oak spice Taste - light and sweet, some vanilla and floral notes, a touch of chocolate and nuttiness Finish - a light dryness comes through, some lingering sweetness, no real heat to speak of -
Not bad overall, but the younger notes are a bit distracting. Nose - some sap notes I associate with younger whiskeys, vanilla and lemon zest, a bit of oak spice Taste - sweet vanilla and caramel up front, a bit of medicinal notes, only a bit of oak spice comes though Finish - the medicinal and sappy flavors show up here, but fade away fairly quickly, leaves some tingle on the tip of your tongue
