Tastes

Need to try in a Manhattan. Seems it would have the right stuff for that.

Excellent blend of sweetness, peat, and spice. One of my favorites of all time.

It's okay neat, better with a drop of water, it actually tastes pretty good with ice. Until you get to the finish. At that point it all comes apart.

On the approach to the glass, there is a strong orange nose. Candied fruit comes through once you are deep in, as well as burnt oak. The taste is a bit peaty, but a little thin. There is a bit of brine in the taste, and peat and brine in the finish.

Nose has hints of plum, as well as the citrus one normally expects with this label. A bit of vanilla blends it together, and removes any sharpness. On the tongue it is very mild, and very warming and spicy without being aggressive. I was hoping for a little more given the nose. The finish is somewhat dull, actually. Flat. Only a bit of burn is left.
