In the nose, it has the edge of double vanilla extract, but not quite vanilla either. Hints of clove and cinnamon. On the tongue, it has less pepper than some ryes, but a more rounded spice flavor. A bit of the sharpness of cinnamon, which comes through more strongly with a drop off water. Opening it up also let's some of the wood come through. The finish is very smooth, with the well rounded flavors still coming through This is a very rich rye, excellent as a sipper.

Nose is nutty, with traces of vanilla. Despite the fact that it is 100 proof, the alcohol is not too powerful. (After all, this is not top shelf stuff.) Nutty in the flavor too. The proof comes through. Not very complex. The finish is strong. The burn from the proof dies down after a few sips. Priced to be an everyday, but a bit too much bite for that for me.

Butterscotch in the nose, but it took a while to get there. At first I didn't get it. The flavor slammed me with nuts at first, very good, and there is a spice I can't identify (I'm not much of a cook) that comes in late. That spice is balanced very well. The finish: the spice is there and isn't overpowering, which is great for those days I am not feeling aggressive.
