Tastes

Strawberry nose- very surprising but accurate. Peat and brine nose. Bitter dark chocolate taste, with some peat and salt. Very long dark chocolate and salt finish, quite an unusual expression of Highland Park. I prefer the more typical character of honey and heather from Highland Park 12, but this is an interesting and curious whiskey. Quite tannic.

More peat than I expected. watery mouth feel. Dry, chocolate notes, with long dry finish. Lacks the truly sublime Highland Park character. Drinkable, but unexceptional.

Forward, dry round full mouth smoke with some sweet sea and peat notes. Long, dry smokey, briny finish. Nearly perfect for a young smokey scotch.

Sweet and spicy with strong, dry, woody finish with rye grain and caraway. Very robust with a syrupy mouthfeel. Some sweetness on the palate. Some vanilla. Not my favorite rye, but it's thoroughly competent.

Like making love to a flaming peat bog, except in your mouth.

Sweet, subtle mix of sherry and peat. Strong sherry, woody finish with sublime peaty notes. Exquisite and I don't tend to favor Highland malts. Perfect for life's very special occasions. The type of whiskey I'd share with my son on his graduation or wedding day.

Sweet, modest peat. Rich sherry, dry woody finish.

Full body of peat, followed by sweet honey malt. Delightful earthy heather aftertaste mixed with peat and brine.
