Purchased this based on a rec from the store's employee for margaritas. I always drink my spirits neat when first opening regardless of purpose. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and flavorful this was. Especially given the price. Agave was pretty prominent on the nose. Palate detected peppery notes and some earthiness. Had some sweetness to it also. A no brainer for cocktails and an occasional sipper. It has me intrigued enough to jump to their anejo since I'm primarily a neat drinker.25.0 USD per BottleShopRite Wines & Spirits

Don Julio Blanco Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed May 12, 2020 (edited October 13, 2020)Very nice pungent roasted agave aroma. The taste contained an obvious herbal character combined with some spice/peppery notes. The agave does emerge towards the end to round things out. One of the better blancos I've tried. Perfect for margaritas and maybe neat if it tickles your fancy. IMO I'll reserve the sipping for the higher grade anejo versions. The price is quite high for the style though. You're paying for the name for sure. I'd recommend getting Espolon Blanco. More budget friendly and on par with this DJ.40.0 USD per BottleShopRite Wines & Spirits -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 7, 2020 (edited August 8, 2020)Got lucky finding this at my local shop. Just delivered! Anyways on to the verdict. My first bottled in bond and perhaps the best. It'll be tough to beat. Neat: It had an enticing vanilla/oak nose. Taste contained a wonderful complexity. Started off with soft vanilla. Then it transitioned to notes of corn, hints of leather, and finished with a warming spicy rye kick. Ice block: Really smoothed things out. Expected thickening of the mouthfeel. Subtle essence of cinnamon sticks emerged on the nose. Rye dominated the palate without the said kick. Later the finish resembled cinnamon candy. Such a good overall experience!49.99 USD per BottleShopRite Wines & Spirits -
I'm a die-hard GOT fan and a good friend gifted me this. At the time (several months back) I wasn't a whiskey/bourbon drinker per se, but I remember the harsh burn with subtle vanilla. Present day seemed a bit smoother, but lacked any complexity. One dimensional for sure. Leather and oak and very subtle vanilla. A gimmick through and through, but at least the bottle had a cool factor to it.

After reading plenty of accolades I decided to grab one and see for myself. Just an FYI, I'm still green to this wonderful hobby. So take my review as you see fit. Neat: Aroma was decadent. Butterscotch and/or caramel all the way. Vanilla joins in later. Palate was almost syrupy sweet with minimal heat. Caramel and spice up front with expected oak on the back end. Subtle notes of leather lingered after a few sips. Ice block: Definitely dulls the small burn it had. Thickens the mouthfeel somewhat. Decreased the sugary sweetness and brought out the wood/oak more. Made it more linear. IMO I'd prefer this beverage neat to appreciate the complexities to the fullest. Out of my 4 different reviews/bourbons thus far, I'd say this was my favorite. Very solid and highly recommend to have in your collection at all times.49.99 USD per BottleShopRite Wines & Spirits

Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 9, 2020 (edited August 8, 2020)02/07/20, barrel #731, Warehouse H, Rick# 16. Decided to pull the trigger on this based off reviews and exclusivity. Scored the last bottle too. Hard to get around me. Neat: Nose contained a bready essence which gave way to citrus, maple, and spice. Palate had a decent burn. Once numbed, I detected dominant notes of oak and leather. Cherry on the finish. Opening more nutmeg and/or baking spice emerged. Ice block: Removed the burn. Muted the fruit and maple somewhat. Thick oily mouthfeel. Subtle oak and leather. Makes it way easier to drink and forget the Abv which can catch up quick if not careful.90.0 USD per BottleShopRite Wines & Spirits -

Reviewed April 8, 2020 (edited September 6, 2020)One of my first intros to bourbon. Crazy how complex and smooth this is for the price. Nose has a mix of bananas foster and vanilla bean.
