A solid embodiment of what bourbon is. Nothing too special, but overall well balanced Nose: vanilla frosting, charred oak, baking spices, a bit of anis. Palate: wood tannins, baking spices, creamy vanilla frosting. Finish: lingering baking spices and a bit of the tannins mixed with the charred oak vanilla.

Nose: musky brine and salty meat smoke following it. Also tart baked apples and apricot from sherry. Palate: initially light in body, but the finish feels more thick and oily. Fruity notes and sweet tea at first. Then it gets more citrus and briny smoked meat, not unlike a mixture of Ardbeg and Lagavulin.

Redbreast 12 Year Cask Strength
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed May 25, 2020 (edited August 12, 2020)Nose: initially heavy on the earthy notes with the malt, fresh nuts and sharp wood/peper spice. Then it becomes more dried fruit and baking soda or salt (not brine) akin to dry sherry. Palate: far too complex for my Palate to pick out the distict notes at the moment. Feels like it moves a lot in the baking spice spectrum, initial salty candy, cinnamon and brown sugar, then some anis followed by the alcohol burn, then leaves behind more salty hard candy, and faint banana liquor. Finish: medium length with some wood tannis lingering in the throat. Sweet baking spice on the tongue. I think this one is far to complex for me to pick apart on the initial glass. Looking forward to coming back to this several times and finding more in it. -
Nose: surprisingly fruity, with notes of green apple. The peate isn't too dominant and is mostly of the campfire notes. Also some hay. Palate: very aggressive on the palate with the campfire smoke notes. Then into brine and spice anis prickling the tongue. Finish: the heat from the smoke lingers on the back of the tongue and mouth, morphing the notes more in the direction of dry oak and sour notes a bit like un-ripe fruit.

Nose: frosting, banana cake, and vanilla. A hint of dark roasted notes notes. Palate: the cake frosting and vanilla. Body is very nice and smooth/a bit oily, making it dessert-like. Some notes of caramel and chocolate. Finish: a slight bitterness leaves a few notes of chocolate and oak lingering in the finish. But they still feel well-balanced. All in all a very solid dram that I would love to try at cask strength to see if it can amplify the rich balance of the sweet and bitter notes.44.0 USD per Bottle

Stauning 2015 Port Smoke (Bottled April 2019)
Single Malt — Denmark
Reviewed February 29, 2020 (edited September 1, 2020)Nose: fresh oak, grass or similar fresh plants, a bit of campfire and ending with the tawny port sweetness. Palate: the oak notes shines first but the tawny port adds a smooth sweetness that mixes vanilla and caramel with some bitter earthy notes. This whiskey has a lot of interesting notes going for it that I have never experienced together in a dram, and I'm having a hard time pinning a discription to them. But I would definitely recommend this to others.
