Baker's Single Barrel Bourbon 13 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 21, 2022 (edited September 30, 2024)Funny did not recall rating this prior & I ended up with the same rating I use a nitrogen argon barrier in all of my open whiskey bottles & swear by it All top shelf bottles with no backup I immediately pour (3) 2OZ Boston Rounds to the tippy top & store away When I taste a sealed Boston Round against same bottle there is no noticeable degradation Last night I poured the pictured Bakers 13 – revisited after quite some time – was opened with store owner at time of purchase 2 years ago (or more) as believe I purchased it Dec 2019 Long story short once the Bakers opened up in the glen it really shined Keeping in mind this is not a small batch like all other Bakers before it … The nose on this single barrel was filled with sweetness, oak, caramel, vanilla all one looks for in a bourbon = 5/5 The palate carried through with balance & smoothness, no heat, a slightly higher proof might have given this more mouth feel and in turn a higher rating on the palate but not shabby at 4.25/5 The finish was good started off well but veered slightly off course 3.75/ 5 Total Score 4.25/5 Nitrogen Argon barrier rate at 5/5 😉 Cheers -
Jefferson's 16 Year Presidential Select Twin Oak
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 14, 2021 (edited December 5, 2023)Pleasant nose hits of a superior whiskey Oak, vanilla, caramel everything one can want in a bourbon nothing the slightest bit negative, just smooth and sweet 5/5 Palate follows through mirroring the nose, a really good pour, delicious, proof is surprisingly well chosen and not too low filling my mouth as a good whiskey should 5/5 Finish 4.5/ 5 Overall a great pour / so very well done/ exceeded my expectations ...wonder what is said to be the source of the juice???? -
Evan Williams 23 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 31, 2021 (edited September 1, 2021)Second time trying it this time it's out of a fresh crack that was bought in Kentucky at Evan Williams and have to say that it tastes much better than my last pour which was in a 2 oz Boston round and rated 3.75 as had off taste with tannins or ethanol as I recall. This very well-rounded dram Nice nose Delicious pallet Finish flawless -
I did not want to like this!!! In past been more pleased with 1920 than Bday Bourbon & that has kept me in a non ISO mode Well not certain if its the 2019 or what BUT THIS IS SOME DELICIOUS juice Nice nose Tasty pallet ...and lingering sweetness on the finish Everything one could want in a bourbon, proof on low side but fills the mouth

Elijah Craig 23 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 12, 2021 (edited February 20, 2022)Everything must be subjective including the value to the person drinking a dram such as this. I had some epic pours this week but must say other than proof on the low side EC 23 is Excellent. The low proof also makes this a perfect afternoon sipper My 2 favorite pours of the week were William Heaven Hill 12 134.4 proof and Barrell Craft Spirits 25 year old at 111 proof or so The EC 23 nose pallet & finish was truly enjoyable Both of those have my highest rating of 4.75 just 1/4 pt up from the EC 23 Now for the cost this is the last of a bottle that at the time I paid $350 or less than $14 / oz so even more of a reason to enjoy some of Heaven Hills renowned older stock. Bottle was a Old Label 2017 - that replaced the 20 & 21 at that time Currently secondary is $900 -

Barrell Craft Spirits Whiskey 25 Year
Other Whiskey — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed August 11, 2021 (edited August 10, 2022)DARK Brown GOODNESS!!!! A nose with evidence of a decent proof/ well rounded/ all the typical oak, vanilla, caramel SWEETNESS!!!! Pallet follows through & does not disappoint - Proof shines though & is mouth filling Madeira aging PERFECT not too much...very subtle Finish lingering BUT SO PLEASENT WOW!!!!! Had had this a couple of time prior but gotta say it hits all the high marks a "bourbon drinker" can look for Cost friend hooked me up with a 1/4 of bottle so expectations did not need to be high CHEERS!!!!! -
For what it is ...cool to be drinking it But cost on secondary makes this a hard pass This is just not an amazing bottle at even retail ...sorry Pappy fans Lacks the roundness, nothing outstanding to note Cost probably about $25 for 2 oz - this was a half price to go pour at the start of Covid ...back then this was a $450/ $500 bottle on secondary and $69.99 retail

To be drinking what is some of the last of Stitzel Weller juice is definitely a treat A nice nose sweet, well rounded , caramel, oak hints that are reminiscent of an Old Crow Chessman dusty Palate holds up better than expected, mouth filling at a low 45/ 46% alc/ vol (drinking sample DO NOT HAVE ACTUAL BOTTLE) Same caramel, oak, with what I pick up as burnt brown sugar Finish - finishes off nicely not too long/ not too short -nothing negative here ... lots of flavor Current pricing is about 700/ bottle My 2 oz pour was possibly $50 at the most but was a half price bar special to go at the start of Covid CHEERS50.0 USD per Pour
