Don’t temember what I paid for this bottle, but it was definitely overpriced. More than 30% mark up from MSRP, for sure. That being said, its simply a phenomenal dram. As I write this, I’m on my last. Nose: Whispy florals, honey, crisp apple, stewed cherries, faint baking spices. Taste: Toasted oak, rye bread, nutmeg, clove, white pepper, and corn sweetness. The sweetness peaks in the mid palate. The finish is long, and peppery, with a quite thick but bright viscosity.

Still Austin The Musician Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed December 23, 2024 (edited December 30, 2024)This is the very last time I take a chance on craft whiskey. This was supposed to be thee darling of the Texas craft whiskey community and I honestly might as well be sipping paint stripper with a faint whiskey flavor. The nose, especially at a distance can fool you into thinking youre about to have a typical flagship bourbon not dissimilar to the the major KY distillers. If you go in much deeper you will start to smell the ethanol like grainforward youth from the spirit, but it’s still not over powering. The front of palate is relatively pleasant with brown sugar and cinnamon. However once it hits the mid-palate it takes a HARSH turn, to a grainy industrial flavor that only intensifies into the finish. This whiskey is simply too young. No amount of variant climate differences from the TX heat, or solara style hydration techniques are going to cover up for the fact that the spirit hasn’t aged and developed mellowing wood sugar flavors extracted from longer term barrel aging. I would barely consider this worthy if mixing into a spirit forward cocktail like a manhattan or old fashioned. What ever you do with this its probably best masked as much a possible by mixers, bitters, sugar, fruit, or whatever else you can find. I do not recommend. Take your money, spend 50% less, for a 4X better product from a heritage KY brand. Hope this helps!45.0 USD per Bottle -
Little Book Chapter 8: Path Not Taken
American Blended Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 16, 2024 (edited December 27, 2024)It’s fine. Ya know? Freddie is taking a while getting his sea legs. I’m not really a rye guy, and this is very much a rye. Perhaps some of the weird notes i picked up are from the malt as well? Idk. Saw a review for this before I opened it and he described the nose and palate to contain dill. Ever since i heard it, i cant get it out of my head and thats a majorly what I taste here. I don’t love it, but i guess that’s the game. I really just wish this series would keep it simple. Quit with all the marrying of different types of american whiskey together. Give me a straight bourbon or a straight rye. Full stop. Edit/Update: Perhaps I was being a bit hasty in my innitial assessment. After giving it a couple weeks to breath, the bottle opened up REAL nice. A lot of those odd notes i’d detected upon first popping the cork have married together in the bottle to create a much more pleasant and “LE” type drinking experience. Patience is a virtue! Give this one some time.160.0 USD per Bottle -
Knob Creek 18 Year Bourbon (2023 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 21, 2024 (edited August 22, 2024)Idk what i was expecting. I bought this last fall in 2023, and i guess due to the lackluster reviews I had been hesitant to crack to bottle open, but boy am i glad i did. This this a beautifully complex and underrated pour. Its everything that Beam does right at perfect age and proof point to enjoy neat. I need a backup bottle asap! Nose is like old slightly musty oak wood, with dry cocoa powder, leather, and vanilla bean pods. The tannins have a medium dry effect on the sides of the tongue in the mid-palete but don’t over do it. The front is oak and maple, and the finish is medium-long.180.0 USD per Bottle -
